Chemical guys

I've been thinking about detailing the Jeep for the summer and I've been reading and learning on different articles and threads about correct detailing.I plan of doing everything by hand because that's more of my style and experince level.I've been looking at some detailing kits on Chemical guys because I read that they a very good company. What do you guys think about there kits and products and is there maybe other places I should be looking also?!

Re: Chemical guys

i personally have been using meguiar's for a long time and was considering switching but didn't. meguiar's has a consumer line which you can use by hand or with a polisher. are you looking to fix heavy scratches and deep swirls? light swirls? small scratches? imo i would go with this:

1. meguiars gold car wash ($9)
2. meguairs clay kit ($18)
3. meguiars swirl x($10) if you don't see the swirls removed from the paint then try meguiar's Ultimate compound ($10) and follow with swirlX
4. meguiars #7 glaze ($11)
5. meguiars #21 sealant or nxt 2.0 (#21 is $20, nxt is $18)
6. meguiars #26 wax ($12)

this will leave a great finish and should take care of all of your swirls/scratches (unless they are really deep)

these products will last you a few full details as well

Re: Chemical guys

yes that is the order as well!!!! you can also purchase meguair's ultimate quick detailer($10) to keep that fresh look inbetween washes. great to remove light dust/bird poop!!!

when applying nxt or sealant #21 apply thin layer!!!

Re: Chemical guys

www.detailedimage.com also has great prices and superfast shipping

I recommend the regular Meguiers quick detailer. Its cheaper and can be bought in the larger 32 oz size

Re: Chemical guys

i tried the reg detailer, speed detailer,Ultimate quick detailer, at the same time on the hood to do a comparison and IMO the UQD was the best!!! then i threw water on all 3 spots and it also repelled the water the best... this was on a black truck mind you

Re: Chemical guys

the ultimate quick detaler is ok if you dont have proper sealants on your vehicle....but not necessary if you do. But please realize that a spray on detailer is not recommended to protect your paint from the elements. It is a spary on and wipe off product with no curing time to add a protection level.

I can tell no difference between the uqd and the qd on my vehicles

Re: Chemical guys

oh i know my truck's paint is unprotected. i dont expect UQD or any detailer to protect my paint... as far as detailers go i was under the assumption that UQD actually did a better job "popping" and leaving a more "beady" finish
