Mpg fyi

The wife and I just completed our first road trip in the 2012 GC. We covered 2500 miles from Tucson through Nevada, California and back home. MPG averaged from a low of 17.8 to a high of 25.3. Most legs were 400 miles plus with plenty of reserve fuel and averaged about 20.8 mpg. Tire pressure at 41 psi running pressure, tranny in drive mode with aero ride height active, and driving at 65 to 75 mph. I noticed the MDS system "hunting" occasionally on long down hill runs, but selecting manual 6 eliminated that issue. The 5.7 has excellent passing power and mountain roads were a breeze. Overall I was impressed with the performance of the Jeep.

Was that running mid-grade (89) or regular (87) ? Great info.

Interesting stuff. My 6.4L SRT sees usually 16-20 mpg on long trips. Just really depends in if I'm cruising 80mph or 70mph. My best range has been 433miles to a tank. 24.5 gallon refuel.

I always fill it up with mid-grade fuel. That wasn't much fun though in California where mid-grade was close to $5 a gallon:eek:

I would kill for these numbers. Even coming down a mountain to los angeles for about 400 miles I get maybe 19mpg. 87 Octane, 41psi on 32" tires (yes i corrected for the 6% change in circumference).

Just did a trip to Cincy and back. set the cruse on 70mph tires at 39PSI & 87octane gas.I averaged just over 25MPG. Interesting fact is my first Hemi (05Magnum R/T) jumped about 2 MPG on the hwy when I hit just over 10K on the odometer as well. Anyone else have that?

Great numbers, Buckeye! Was that MPG calculation from the EVIC or did you calculate it yourself?

Wish I could get those numbers my overland just got 16mpg on a very hilly drive, also I think the 22x9.5s probly had something to do with it!

EVIC always estimates a higher mileage than in real life, but still your numbers are solid for a V8. For me, I'm desperately waiting for diesel to come. We recently hit 3.99/gal for #2. 87 is running about $4.35/gal here.

I just completed a 200 mi trip and averaged 24.5 mpg on the EVIC. This was stop and go traffic on highway 95, other than than I was 75-80 mph and romping on it to pass some people and test the V6. I'm very impressed with the results I got from my WK2!
