Steering Noise??
When i make sharp turns i get a deep rubbing noise coming from the front end, i can also feel the steering wheel vibrate. I got under my jeep but nothing is broke or bent that i can see. Any one have any ideas before i take it in?

Re: Steering Noise??
If you have quadra-drive that could be the front axle binding. You could be low on gear oil in the front diff or the limited slip additive could be worn out. Check the fluid level and if the oil hasn't been changed in a long time than change it regardless, and add the additive if necessary. It could also be worn cv joints or ball joints on the axle or steering knuckle.

Normally at full turn the steering pump will whine some as it is maxed out, but I've never felt a vibration under just those conditions. I suppose it could be a worn steering gear too, but I don't have any experience with those.

Re: Steering Noise??
I know the gear oil is good. Changed front and rear diff fluid about a month ago. I know my steering gear box has some play in it but it might be going bad.

Re: Steering Noise??
make sure to lube up your ball joints with a grease gun, I have had some that cured what I believe to be the same concern your dealing with, and I have had some that did not.

Re: Steering Noise??
Which size of tires do you have? It could be a tire rubbing against the wheel well lining.
When you changed the diff fluid, are you sure that limited slip additive was added? (for Quadra Drive only)

Re: Steering Noise??
Yes i added the limited slip addative. I thought it was the tire at first because I run 275/45/R20 but it doesnt sound like a rubbing tire. Ill lube the ball joints and see if thats it.

Re: Steering Noise??
yea i agree with the ball joints theory it happens to me as well and my setup is completely stock at the moment. but only happens when i turn left at about 3/4 full turn. i inspected my lower ball joints and the tie rod ends and they all need to be replaced. this will be a project for another day when i have more money to dump into it.
