06 commander air conditioning problem
Ive got an 06 commander, 5.7 liter I have cold air on driver side but on passenger and rear it only blows room temp. Air or if I turn climate control to heat it will blow hot. It is dual climate, drivers side will operate fine cold or hot. I took off glove box, removed actuator/ motor. It was operating properly, I could grab the blend door gear that sticks out and turn it, I could hear a difference in sound, basically it would open and shut. But I still couldn't get cold air. I checked refrigerant pressure was fine, I was sure it was the blend door but now I have no clue where to look. Must problems of this sort were one of the two solutions. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you

Re: 06 commander air conditioning problem
What refrigerant pressure were you reading, did you have it operating while watching the pressure. I just had a WJ do this, especially with the known failures of the WJ blend doors (add in the code for the passanger blend door it was throwing) that was my first suspect, well the box had already been cut open so I was able to see the door working properly. I checked my pressures and my low side was droping to about 10psi and my high side was running about 225-250 or so, The H valve was not metering the refrigerant properly so there was a large temperature differential across the face of the evaporator. The expansion valve (H valve) was the fault and not only brought my passanger temps down about 30 degrees but brough my driver temps down further.

Re: 06 commander air conditioning problem
My pressures looked good on low and high side, but now after further tinkering I am getting cold air conditioning in the front driver side and cold in third row seating, room temp air on passenger and mid seating, Now if I turn the passenger side zone to heat it will heat up hot that's with driver side still on cold temp setting, but if I turn driver side to hot temp it cuts off fan access to passenger and mid section. I'm looking at driver side blend doors and they seem to work. The small one closest to ac controls, I assume is driver side zone,is fine ,the larger one that seems to change from heat to ac does groan a little but seems operable also. Very confused where to go. Feel like its in this area mechanical, just not sure. Thank you for any help. Also no codes???

Re: 06 commander air conditioning problem
Here is a rather simple thing to check and something I overlooked. Is your cooling fan kicking on with the AC? If not you might not be getting the proper flow over the condenser, thus not exchanging heat properly.

I had this issue on my 05 3.7, turned out wiring on the high pressure switch was terribly frayed and exposed. Def something you want to check out before you dive in and start messing with other stuff.

This is typically a low freon situation. Which means there is a slow leak somewhere.
