ticking noise
Hey fellas will any of u gentlemen help me out. When I purchased my jeep I heard a ticking noise and just srugged it off. Ok mu point is there is a damn ticking noise and its driving me crazy. It comes from the driver side engine. Sounds alot worse when its cold gets orogesivly better as it warms uo, but neverquite goes away. Ive been told its the lash adjusters or the rocker arm, any ideas? thanks in advance

Re: ticking noise
Which engine do you have?
The hydraulic lash adjusters can start leaking a bit and cause a ticking noise. To start with, are you sure the noise is coming from the head area? If it is, you have to remove the head cover and check each rocker arm for play. A good working lash adjuster will remove all the play, even with the engine off. If you find one or more with play, then its probably time to replace them.

Re: ticking noise
broken exhaust manifold bolts... WAY common... get some new hardware, a manifold gasket, and order up a round or 100 of patience along with some beer for when the patience doesn't work and get-her-done!

The drivers side is the best one on the WJ becasue the collector hardware on the passanger side is a DIRTY dirty whore... The drivers side they are decently open, not to mention there is also a bunch more stuff in the way on the passanger side, you can also unbolt your intermediate shaft from the steering gear and give yourself more room on the manifold.

unbolt motor from engine mounts and raise. to gain access for passenger side
