My 5.7 WK at the drags...I hope!

Kids and grandkids are great. With a little (actually a lot) of help, I think I've got some drag race videos of my 5.7 WK, with open exhaust. They were taken about 3 weeks ago. Let's see if they work.

Corrected to sea level ET's and speeds are:
1st Run: 14.198 at 96.427 mph
2nd Run: 14.299 at 95.63

Track altitude is ~2650 ft. and Density Altitude was ~3000 ft. for the first run and ~3400 ft. for the second one. The wife was also in the vehicle for the second one. I did 2 other runs, corrected: (DA ~2800) 14.192 at 96.262 mph, and (DA ~3500 ft.) wife in vehicle again, 14.291 at 95.543. Also did 2 red lights, one by .044 seconds and the other by .048 seconds. Had a fun time though.

You've been too busy modding your Jeep, LOL.

Those runs were made before I did the throttle body (stock is 80mm, now it's 90mm), underdrive pulley (25% UD) and SOS coils (more than twice the voltage of the stock ones). I was also using 1st, 2nd and 3rd, instead of 1st, 2nd, and 2 prime, and also had the traction control on. I am sure it would do a little better now. The best I had done with that configuration is 14.09. Next spring I'll run both the LX and WK to see how they do now. Both are modded almost exactly the same.

Oh nice. How much of a difference did that 25% ud have over stock? Ive been looking at a ud for a while now. The one user one here with one on his 3.7 has my hopes up lol

Re: My 5.7 WK at the drags...I hope!

I am sure there is a difference because of the reduced load on the engine when turning the accessories. It's not really noticeable though. Supposed dyno tests show as much as about a 10 hp savings. Last year (July 2013 edition) Mopar Muscle Magazine did an article on how much power the various accessories rob from the total engine output. Some are pretty eye opening. Here's the summary of what they found:

All are peak numbers at WOT:

1. Power Steering Pump 8.3 torque and 7.6 hp
2. Water Pump 6.4 torque and 4.0 hp
3. Alternator 1.9 torque and 4.5 hp
4. Stock paper air filter 10.4 torque and 14.4 hp
5. High flow air filter 5.5 torque and 5.9 hp
6. 5W20 oil vs. 20W50 oil 12.0 torque and 16.4 hp

I'll also now be running mine without air filters at the drags.
