Remote Start Climate Control

Have a strange issue. The AC compressor will not engage when the GC is started with remote start. The weird thing is, once you open the door, that engages the compressor and within 30 seconds the air starts to cool off. Tried in manual mode and auto climate control mode to no avail. The dealer states that it's a known issue on some GC's, but there is no fix. Anyone have this issue at all? It's annoying that I purchased a vehicle with features I can't use.

havent seen or read about others complaining about this but the no fix reply is bullshit try another dealer or call chrysler . whats the point of remote start if only to heat or cool the vehicle to a comfortable level before you enter it

Do you have a 2011 or 2012? On my 2011 Overland it works fine. It has to be set in the Auto mode I believe. When I auto start the A/C will be on as well as the cooled drivers seat. I think is does mater what the temp inside the Jeep is.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I have a 2012 Limited. My dad has a 2011 Overland and his works. The dealer first tried to tell me that it's working as expected, and it won't cool off in auto mode. My Liberty had auto climate and would cool off with remote start. So, I had them check other GC's on the lot and they realized mine has an issue. Yeah, the no fix answer is bull. So I have to wait until chrysler puts out a flash update for it?

It sounds like a computer or sensor issue.

Most likely. Could be a defective compressor too I suppose since the GC doesn't get nearly as cold as all my other Jeeps I have owned. Just crappy I have to wait for a software update that may never come.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Compare the AC outlet temperature to another GC and see if yours is in the range. If that needs to be fixed then you might luck out and the two issues are related.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Exact same thing happens on my 2012. Yesterday I was checking out at a store and started the vehicle with the remote. Took us about 5 minutes to get out to it and was surprised when I opened the door and the fan was blowing at full speed but no cold air was coming out. I pushed the start button and immediately felt the AC kick in. Remembering this thread I tried repeating this at home that night. Started the vehicle and let it run for a few minutes. Opened the door and again the fan was on full but no cold air. Pushed the start button and felt the AC come on.

I've also experienced this as well. Will remote start the WK2 with the air set on auto to 70 and when I get in 5-10 min later its not even cold. Plan on calling the dealer this week but fearful of them not providing a solution to the problem.

why should you have to wait tell them to start replacing parts or start crediting your monthly payments for the inconvience. you paid for remote start with cooling and heating and it should work. you should consider speaking to another dealer if they are giving you the runaround

It was 90tiday so I did some testing. Sure enough, the AC wouldn't kick in until I opened the door.

I have an appt. with another dealer tomorrow morning. I suspect I will get the same run around, but will post my experience there and what they tell me.
