I went and did it

Found a Black one and they gave me a good deal on my trade. I couldnt pass it up, but now I have a lot of questions for you guys because I didnt get a user manual yet. BTW, I have already found a spot where the front fascia is not connecting with the passenger fender correctly just below the headlight, right in the outside corner. It pushes itself out and it seems that it doesnt have any clips or any way that it should stay locked in. With a build date of 5/2012 I figured thay would have the body flair and panel issues worked out, guess not.

But I am still digging it. They came off 3500 of the MSRP and gave me 12k for my 2004 Armada with 80k miles that needed tires, brakes, rotors and paint above the windshield. I think I could have sqeezed more, but I was thankful to find a new one just 30 miles from me.

Congrats on the purchase you'll love it I have the same one as you. What are the questions you have for all us?

Re: I went and did it

thx Marco. Well for starters is it normal to just be able to rev the engine to say 3500 rpms in park? Not that I would rack the thing out in park, but I was revving it and noticed the puter wont let it rev past there in park or neutral.

I also read something about ambient lighting color change?? I havent found anything like that yet.

I did a zero to 60 run and it was a dismal 5.9 seconds
Granted I was in the auto setting and it shifted around 5500-5700 range. Im trying not to be hard on it, but I dont figure a couple runs will hurt.
Also the dealer filled the truck up at the dealership...Im guessing they didnt fill it with premium.
Are these engine held back a little via the puter untill they get some miles on them or should I be concerned with a time that slow?

Go to Jeep.com an download a PDF UM. Your 0-60 time depends on a lot of factors. Where do you live, weather conditions, launching technique, shifting style, etc...

No ambient lighting in SRT. I believe it's an accessory that can be added. Some other models besides SRT where supposed to get it, but the feature didn't make it in. Just remnants in the UM.

Re: I went and did it

Yes I agree the 0-60 time depends on a lot of factors, also the truck wakes up a bit with a few thousand miles on it. The first 500 miles you should break it in normally. The 3500 rpm is there from factory they don't want it being revved up that high in park or neutral.

For 0-60 when you get it broken in try to brake torque it holding the brake down and revving it to 1100-1300 rpm and then letting off the brake and mashing the gas down and shifting in sport or auto mode at 5200-5500 rpm. It will wake up with the miles on it again like I said it did for mine after a few thousand miles.

Re: I went and did it

Thanks for the heads up Mongoose, hopefully I will have a manual in a week or so, but I can read that until then.

Yeah, I didnt power brake it on the take off, just gingerly floored it like an old man :D

Im only about 300ft above sea level and the temp was in mid 70's today. I sure thought I could rip off a low 5's easy, but it didnt. Heck its just got 250 miles on it so I wont push it. I will say its hard to keep the thing under 90 on the freeway, it just wants to go.

Im looking for an all weather floormat to go in that works, but isnt too bulky. You guys have any ideas?

Mongoose9400 06-01-2012 09:42 PM

I run the Jeep floor and cargo mats. Weather tech is another popular option.

Thanks Scott. I really didnt plan on pulling the trigger, but things just fell into place. I must say, it feels really good to be back in a Jeep!

BTW, I didnt hear much talk here about the SRT audio, but man they delivered on it!

Is there anyway to make the DVD's play video while you are moving? I understand why it doesnt, but wondering if there is a cheat yet.

Congrats!!

I definitely have the same issue with my bumper on an early one (~#666) going to dealer for 12,000 mile service on Monday and hopefully they can address this once and for all.

Definitely wakes up after about 2k miles, was doing 5sec in the cold 0-60 newish (500 miles) and down to 4.3 sec @ 2.5k (also in the cold). Of course I've gotten my best 1/4 @ 13.14 with only 1000 miles (and very cold temps)

+1 I only have the cargo bed one, but it keeps things in place very well

Re: I went and did it

well congrats hammer, i purchased the wk2 gc all weather floor matts for cheap, and its really good.

as for the popping side of the bumper, i suggest to go to the dealer cuz i had one popping from the front fascia from the driver side but from under the head light i dont know what they did but they fixed it and its awesome.

0-60 times differ alot but mine woke up properly after 5000 kilos which is around 3000 miles

seems to me you know the rest.

g-luck
