Ferrari's $300k FF uses 730N media center?

According to an article in today's NY Times, the new $300-400k Ferrari FF uses the same stereo and nav that's in the Jeep Wrangler. A photo suggests it's the 730N. Needless to say, the reviewer wasn't impressed, and suggests covering it up with a piece of leather and listening, instead, to the Ferrari's barking exhaust note.

Yep, I first noticed this when I was in a California Ferrari. Pretty cool.

OMG Who would buy a Ferrari with an automatic?

People who want to go fast. Actually, I don't think Ferrari even offers a stick anymore.

But yeah, they've been using silver colored MyGigs for some time now. It's a nice unit, I can't blame them for it. If only you could combine the Garmin nav from the 430N with a much better version of the voice control from the 730N, then you'd have a near perfect unit.

I take the sound of a Ferrari over any music any day. Nothing beats a 1957 Testarossa with open exhausts at full song. I can still remember the evening vividly coming back from a PCA Potomac meeting and a member had his TR and we were driving down the beltway in the summer of 1983. Beats any engine ever made by Ford, GM and Chrysler.

I have to check and see what speakers Ferrari uses.

Nah, engine sound is subjective, I think you can't beat that earth shaking rumble of a 426 hemi from the 60s, or the early 70s 340, or the late model 916+ ducati. The testarossa sound is so whiny to me, way too high strung. I guess if you like sewing machines it will get a rise out of you :)

I like both. I like the v8 rumble but nothing beats the sound of an f1 car. Both have their place. A straight piped Harley and a Civic (or other small 4 banger) with big exhaust pipe should be outlawed, other than that, game on. :)
