About to paint my own grill and rear brow--Need Help!!

i just ordered off of automotive touchup some wet sandpaper, prep solvent, brilliant black pearl spray paint, adhesion promotor, clear coat gloss, and grey sand able acrylic primer, and am about to color match my grill and rear brow for my WK2. Right now the parts are plastidipped but i want a more permanent and cleaner solution.

Could someone on this forum give me directions on what to do to paint these parts right and cleanly because i am scared i might mess up the paint on my car and it is very expensive to fix! I'm a first timer doing this and need assistance. Listing some possible steps with the different paints would help so much.
Thanks guys!

first....remove the grille and brow! Its all in the prep and finding a clean area to paint. get some tack cloths to wipe the items down before priming, painting etc.

Would i be able to paint directly on to my car? I don't know how to remove those parts! i plastidipped without removing anything and it worked out fine, would painting be any different if i was extremely careful and tape all around?

plasti dip peals off.
REAL paint doesn't.

So, YES. Take the parts off the vehicle.
wkjeeps.com shows you how to take off parts

Take them off. You'll end up with problems down the line if you don't.

Does the grill pop off easy or do you have to remove the whole front bumper?

Not being rude.. But if its on a wk2, take it to a professional to do it.

From what I understand, the front bumper has to come off. Look for threads on DIY section for adding the front grill mesh instructions.

The grill pops off in 2 minutes, use a small flat tool (screwdriver would do) protect your paint with a rag under the tool. Release the top grill tabs slowly. After the first two (out of 6) with the tool the top will pop out with gentle pulling!

Repeat for bottom and you are done!

To install just push it back in.
I have not done the rear brow so can't help you there mate.

I though the front bumper skin had to be removed to provide access to two (2) front grill lower mounting screws?

Are you saying the front grill is mounted by clips (top & bottom) that can be popped off w/a screwdriver without removing the front bumper skin??

Yes the grill has 12 tabs that go into the facia, 6 on top and 6 on the bottom, they all need to be pushed slightly up and then they pop out.

A lot faster then taking the facia out, go slow and you'll be fine.
