Headlights

So electrics is my worst area. I don't get it and barely understand the difference between the Angel and CCFL halos.

I know everyone says to go with Gen 3 or Gen IV so I'll be a follower and go with it. It's come down between these two.

I like these:

Does anyone have these and replaced the LED strip with a brighter one? Or does anyone know if that is possible.

And these:

If you run HID, what do you run in your low and fogs. Same output?

Thanks in advance

Re: Headlights

Get the bottom ones. I hate the fake Audi lights. Go with the Gen 3 and get 4300k HID's. They will look good.

Re: Headlights

I'm running the CCFL Gen 3's (lower pic) with 5000k HID's and VLEDs everywhere else. One of the best upgrades I've done...driving at night is a whole other world now. The key is to get everything aimed correctly and not to cheap out on the lighting kit. Do yourself a favor and check this out from our vendor: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f60/save-15-off-your-order-offer-ends-june-15th-save-big-43041.html

This is where I got my HID kit, XenonDepot is the best. I've been running my Xtreme kits now for a year and a half with no issues. I've got one kit for head lights, and another for the fogs.

...and don't concern yourself with being a "leader" or a "follower". No one cares...it's all about what YOU like the most. In my case, I like the Gen 3's better than the 4's. I also like the look of the 5000k over the rest. Any more than that is too blue for my taste...and any lower than that is too "yellowish" for me.

Re: Headlights

yeah I am gonna go with the lower ones.

I've never heard of 5000. I like the Xenons but I think it's too expensive to do headlights and HIDs. so I'll probably just save up again. do you run the same output in your lows and fog?

Re: Headlights

I just got HID's for my WJ. i do NOT have projector housings, yet. i need MOAR CASH first. I have 6000K in my lows, 3000K in my fogs, and i ordered an extra set of 6000K bulbs for my Fogs also so i can switch them as i please. Consider me cheap @$$hole, but i went with DDM Tuning. I had one problem with the LED reverse bulb for my tail lights but no problems with the HID headlights. I also got the 9005 bulb for my lows... i got the high beam for the low beam hole... not sure if i will end up blinding people or not but hopefully when i get my projectors i wont.

Yep...I wanted them to match, so I got the same color temp for everything. Even the LED parking and signal bulbs are 5000k. It is pricey, but at least with XenonDepot you get a forum discount for being a member here. Putting a regular bulb in a projector housing isn't ideal as far as output, but you'll probably realize a big improvement because your current lenses are so yellowed. When you eventually do HID's you'll be amazed.

Gawd you're such a cheap @$$hole....hahahhahahah. I found my gen 3's on Ebay and they may have been from DDM....can't remember, but I've had no issues with them.

I dont think DDM makes projectors... i know they do for Beamers but i dont think for Jeeps. pretty sure just LED and HID lights, and Beamer stuff. but one day ill own projectors! lol definitely Gen III's.

as for the cheap @$$hole comment, yes. yes i am lol I meant the @$$hole part because i put 9005 (high beam) bulbs in my low beam location... lol if it makes a difference.

Re: Headlights

Is 5000k the whitest? It's between 4300 & 5000. I think 6000k is a little too blue for me.

TJXJWJ 06-14-2012 08:38 PM

Re: Headlights

I believe it is...I did a lot of homework on it back when I bought them. If I remember correctly, 4300 is what you find on vehicles that come stock with HID tech. 5000 is "whiter", but supposedly you get better color rendering with the 4300. 6000 does show blue. When I have mine on, I see no blue...just crisp LED type white light.
