Coolant Problem 2000 Wrangler Sahara
Somebody give me some advice please. I've replaced the thermostat and the housing, the radiator and the water pump. I even flushed the system twice. This is my wife's 2000 Wrangler Sahara. It's got over 177K on it, runs great normally but now is over heating again. Repair guy says we may have a cracked head. Any advice? How can I check for a cracked head? I'm ok with getting my hands dirty but not a mechanic by any means. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Coolant Problem 2000 Wrangler Sahara
Is it overheating all the time, or only when standing still?
Are the radiator hoses hot, or just luke warm? There are 2 types of waterpumps for the 4.0 engine and they turn in different directions. If you would have the wrong one, there would be a very low coolant flow with overheating as a result.
Not sure if the thermostat could be installed wrongly, which could prevent it from opening.
Is there any coolant loss?

No coolant loss. Jeep's been parked for a few days so I gotta go start it and let it run and check the hoses. How will I know if I have the wrong water pump?

Re: Coolant Problem 2000 Wrangler Sahara
If the engine temperature rises quickly and the hoses don't get hot, or the thermostat doesn't open, or there is no (sufficient) coolant flow. Do you still have the old pump, to compare?
