HVAC Fan Whine / Squeal
I am getting a whine or squeal from my HVAC fan. It seems to coming from the passenger side. The pitch and volume change as I increase the fan speed. Kind of sounds like a belt squeal.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Is the fan easily accessible or is it time for a trip to the dealer.

how old is the vehicle? do you park where small leaves could be falling into the cowl, ive had older vehicles get leaves in the blower and make something like the noise you are describing. if you open a window while you are hearing the noise does it stop (air leakage)

Only about 18 months old. Leaves are possible, but I would be surprised if that's the noise. It makes the sound with windows up or down.

Your JGC has a cabin filter. A leaf would have a hard time getting past the filter so I highly doubt that is your problem. A squeal noise could be a bad fan bearing. You need to go to the dealer and have it checked. If you have a bad motor let them replace it because its buried in the dash.;)

Re: HVAC Fan Whine / Squeal
I'm STILL fighting with Jeep and the dealer for the same problemn (AND a rattle coming from my Driver's Side Mirror area AND fading Overland Summit Seats). I've communicated with Jeep Customer Service who subsequently communicated with the dealer and we're FINALLY getting somewhere. I'm dropping her off on Monday and they're supposed to replace my seat covers, fix my HVAC, and fix the rattle. We shall see.

Report it to your dealer IMMEDIATELY and have it fixed. Btw, they replaced my AC hose already, per the TSB, and the whine is still there. I suspect a blower motor.
