430N Price Differences

On wk2jeeps.com/wk2_2012_features.htm it says the AM/FM/CD/DVD/HDD/MP3/ MEDIA CENTER 430N GARMIN NAV RADIO (RHB) is $395.00 MSRP. The factory stickers say the same thing.

On wk2jeeps.com/wk2_navigation.htm#RHB it says the radios are $2130.00 MSRP.

Does anyone know what the difference is and why?

I'm getting the upgrade at $2000 in a new Cherokee from the dealer and I'm wondering what the extra $1600 is buying me. The vehicle has the 130 Media Center in it now.

Re: 430N Price Differences

So, if I understand your question, the RHB radio if purchased through the parts counter is $2130, but if you opted to upgrade the 130 radio prior to the the factory build, the additional cost would have been $395?

You can think of upgrading a built WK2 as pulling the 130 radio, throwing it away, and buying a new radio and install. The dealer has to buy the new radio and pay his staff to install it. He may or may not be able to get any money for the old 130.

But the RES Media Center 130 Stereo with CD/MP3 lists at $601 so that's about $1500 difference in radio alone. That $395 seems wrong, perhaps it was not a 130 to 430N upgrade. Check the window stick and see what the Std radio is.

Is uconnect already in the vehicle, or is it being installed with the radio upgrade? If so there may be additional modules and wiring harnesses involved.

It always costs more than seems reasonable to upgrade after the vehicle is bulit.

Re: 430N Price Differences

The $395 price is for going from the 430 to the 430N (adding the Nav feature) and NOT for going from the 130 to the 430N. You cannot get the 430 or 430N in a base or Laredo E (unless you get that new package that includes the 430N and 20" 70th anniv style wheels for $2,695, but that is only if you also get the E package for $2,000). The 430 comes with the 26X package ($5,300) and you can upgrade to the 430N for $395 in the X package only.

Long story short - you have your pricing wrong.

Re: 430N Price Differences

Ok. I think I understand now. The pricing is based on a factory install upgrades from one system to the next. It is a bit of a leap from the 130 to the 430N and installation is included in the figure. I didn't know that the 130 costs $600 since the pricing for the 130 is not included as it is standard on the standard Laredo package.
