Best brake Pads for my Wk??

Hi, this is my first post but I've been looking at the website for a while. (best site i could of come across :D ) Im planning to change my break pads (I'm gonna follow a how to one of the members posted) bc they're worn out and i was wondering if i could get some suggestions on what type of pads other guys are using, this is my daily driver and i use my breaks a lot. Also the front ones are completely worn out but the rear still have some life in them , should i change all four or wait? Help please

PS. if theres a thread about this already can someone please show me in the right direction please :D

I just recently changed my stock pads at 50k and went with Wagner Thermo-quiets. I read alot of reviews on these pads from guys here and from other truck forums (ford, chevy, etc...) and i was sold.

They produce little to no brake dust and have a nice bite to them. Just make sure you use plenty of ceramic brake parts lube, its about $2 for a small packet of the gel. I got everything i needed locally from Advance Auto. However i bought everything online and did an in-store pickup and was able to use a coupon code that saved me $35.

I highly recommend them!

use coupon code: RAF7JA1102 and you'll get $35 off (as long as your over $85 initially) :D

I LOVE MY WAGNER THERO-QUIET CERAMIC PADS! I've used them for several of my last vehicles and they're really great for the price. On top of the usual Advance Auto coupon codes, Wagner has MIR's a lot of the time, so I ended up with front/rear sets for around $50 AR (total) last time around. At the same time you're doing the brakes, consider ditching the crappy WK front rotors that get notoriously warped, causing huge braking issues. I swapped mine for some EBC drilled/slotted sport rotors for under $200 for the set. Give it some thought and remember that your brakes are arguably the most important safety feature in your rig.

Assuming that you're asking for a comparison of the OEM Mopar pads against the Wagner Thermo-Quiets, there really is no comparison (because the OEM pads are so horrible and the Wagner's are so great.

The OEM Mopar pads are semi-metallic (producing lots of brake dust) and have crappy stopping power, much the same as the OEM Mopar rotors on the WK.

The Wagner Thermo-Quiet pad are ceramic (very little brake dust) and have lots of stopping power, and can withstand higher temperatures without warping, etc. This ensures a consistent and strong braking experience.

When the Wagner pads are paired with a set of high quality aftermarket rotors (such as EBC or Stillen) that are drilled and/or slotted and higher quality steel, the braking experience on the WK is substantially improved.

After installing a new set of EBC Sport drilled/slotted rotors on my front (~$180/shipped on Amazon) with the Wagner Thermo Quiet pads, my braking experience was like going from a horrible nightmare to a dream machine. I followed the break-in procedure for the EBC rotors and now have had them on for 30K and have never had a hint of the previous horrible wobble that I used to get from the cheap and warped Mopar rotors (even after getting them resurfaced).

My advice: Wagner Thermo Quiet Pads + EBC/Stillen Rotors = WIN

Not to highjack the thread, but has anyone heard of certain brake pads rattling? When I hit bumps they rattle pretty loud (I got the OEM replacements), but when on the brakes and I hit a bump they are quiet.

I get that noise too...never figured out what it was though.

Go to www.tirerack.com and get new rotors and pads. Centric's are very high quality, for a good price and they deliver to your door right away. The how to's posted on this site are incorrect procedures. It is CRITICAL to not put new pads on without repalcing or resurfracing the rotors on a brake lathe. Also make sure to follow the bedding in procedure; i.e. do not slam the brakes on for the first 500 miles or so. I'd just get new Centrics versus removing the old rotors and taking them in for resurfacing, and they will perfom better and last for many years.

Keep in mind rotor choice is personal preference as long as you don't get the OEM or budget crap at AutoZone. Most people that I've seen on here prefer Stillen, EBC, and Centrics (in that order).

That being said, I LOVE MY EBC's.

Have any of you ever seen slotted or drilled rotors on a race car ? I'm replacing my rotor with full premium rotor and new ceramic pads.

Re: Best brake Pads for my Wk??

Race cars do not use drilled rotors. I saw a guy total his vette at Road Aamerica when his drilled rotors cracked going into turn 5. At Aubtoahn CC, I was running my SHO and right after one sessions I heard 2 distinctive clink sounds from the Mustang parked next to me when both of his front drilled rotors cracked.
