Window issues

About a month ago I had my windows down and I hit a good size pot hole doing a u-turn and after that the passenger side front window didn't want to go up all the way. The motor appears to be working since it did close the window 3/4 of the way, but then there was a grinding noise and it stopped. I was able to pull it the rest of the way up. Could the window have fallen off of the track or something like that? Now on the drivers side I have this 1" wide band of grease on the inside of the window from top to bottom. This issue just started the other day. Whats inside the door putting grease on the window when I roll it down then back up? Thanks in advance.

Re: Window issues

There is a window regulator inside that the motor is attached to, this is the "track" and has the carriage that the glass is clipped to. Usually there is a small plastic piece that breaks off and now the window carriage is not connected to the motor. Happened to both of my front windows. I will look for another thread that talks about replacing it, its a fairly simple job.

Here's a link I found in another thread: http://jeepin.com/features/wj_window_regulator

It was a plastic piece that held the cable that broke. It's all fixed now. Thanks for the link!

Did you have to buy a new regulator or just fix the plastic piece?
