Crazy Head unit

I reported a few weeks ago that our Overland head unit was changing form Radio to ipod without anyone touching anything, well it is happening more frequent and being weirder.
Yesterday listening to 101.7FM, the radio went silent for a second, then changed to 88.1, but with the 101.7 music playing. It then went to static and stuck on 88.1, but the 101.7 was highlighted on the screen. changed to another station and then back to 101.7 and all was good again.
Seems like I have a gremlin in the radio, anyone else getting crazy stuff on their radio ?

Are you sure you haven't got the radio in seek mode? Sounds like what is happening is that when 101.7 gets weak, it is going off to look for another station.

nah, it was changing before my eyes by itself. My wife and I were both like WTF and it happened at top ryde, where there is no reception issues.
It is going to the dealers on Thursday to finally have the ACC replaced, so I will mention it to them and see if there is any updates that can be done.
It is not really a big deal, as we just changed to another station and back again, it is just more a concern that it is also doing it with the iPod and now radio.

ryde area is clogged with various transmission towers, perhaps some interference??

Do you think it may have something to do with the shark fin?

I installed mine yesterday, it's going fine, it got a little crackly in some spots where the OEM antenna used to but early days, still monitoring.

Having said that mine had a brain freeze a few weeks ago where I was listening to a particular station but the display showed something totally different. I didn't think much of it until I started writing this post!

Mine too...a little crackly through the hills, however picked up B105 clear as a bell down trhe coast last night which is a plus for the sharkfin. Radio is fine, playing live albums off the HD is rubbish as I can't get them to play in order. Spent all yesterday adding a numeric prefix....no change. Gonna try one last time adding alphas before sacking it in favour of my iphone linked through bluetooth.

The reception has never been a problem. Even listning to AM, it is no better or worse than my Ford. The problem is in the head unit as it has switched form Radio to iPod and now changed radio stations.

Nah, both times I was driving and nothign was being pressed. My wife told me it has done it to her several time, but though she had bumped the controls on the wheel, but after a couple of times she knew it was a problem.

Yeah I'm thinking it's internal. Problem is the drongos replacing your ACC won't have a clue!

Just thought, mine did this a couple of times last night. I had my iphone on charge using the USB in the armrest. It kept flicking between radio and iphone before tuning into 88.0 (no station). I took it off charge and it solved the problem, putting it down to a dicky USB lead.

Come to think of it, the Limited CRD we test drove in March was doing strange things. My son spotted it, but my wife and I didnt notice it as we had it muted during the drive. The screen was just changing between AM, FM and then scanning through stations.

We didnt worry about it as we just thought it was us being unfamiliar with it. It wasn't the NAV unit though, just the RB2 unit.
