Pairing Superlift with OME front springs? Which shocks?

All,

I just got a new daily driver (an old 1985 Mercedes 300SD) and I can finally start turning my Jeep into a weekend rig instead of a road hog.

I want 35" tires. No way around it!

I also have an ARB Bull Bar that will go on this thing once it is lifted and I know that sucker weighs enough to really affect the front stance. I also want to get a Sagauro rear bumper and carrier but they aren't making them right now.

I am going to go with a 4" Superlift and I need some help figuring out how to get another 1.5" in the front and the back.

I like the idea of using OME HD front springs but I don't know if that's the best route and I also don't know which shocks I need to run with that height setup. I'd love some help on that.

As for the rear, I'm just going to use Rusty's 2" spacers (might cut them down some depending on the rear bumper or not) to get a little more lift but also I don't know which shocks I should run back there.

Any input here would be a big help...hopefully I'll have all of this stuff ordered in the next month or two and be able to take it out on the beach before it gets too cold.

Here is how she sits currently:

Not for long.

I have the 4" superlift kit with the HD ome front springs and shocks. i removed the spring spacer pack that comes with the superlift kit for the standard springs but would fit them if i used a bullbar or winch, fitted JBL upper control arm but will change them out for rocky road arms because the strut hits the suspention upright at full droop, the rear i used the standard 4" superlift springs with a 1.5" spacer and the superlift remote res shocks that i would like to change out for longer custom bilsteins, wkeels are 17x9 MT sidebiter 4.5" backspace, 33x12.5 MT ATZ tires, 35 will probably need a bit of trimming.

Thanks for the response.

All good info.

When you say JBL uppers do you mean JBA? I've never heard of JBL. I had planned on getting the JBA upper control arms though, they look pretty stout.

Thanks again for the update. I'm planning on running my stock wheels with 1.5" wheel spacers all around.

Thanks again,
D

Sorry JBA control arms, changing them out because they are shorter than stock giving a negative caster angle and the strut now hits the suspention upright at full droop causing a loud banging when you go over bumps, RR control arms the stock length will give a neutral caster angle but more space for the strut, will post photo when assembled but still waiting for shipment from US. http://www.flickr.com/photos/wkjeep/

If you want longer you'll have to look at either bilstein 12's or Fox 12's depending on the extra height and travel you get. You can get procomps at that length as well but they are a bit soft.

35's will need a bit of trimming, depending on what bumpers or steel bars you are gpoing to use. Also the pinchweld area needs to be clearanced further than normal.

All doable though!

Valpacer,

Thanks for the input.

I checked out your build thread the other day and have been meaning to post and complement your sick sick ride!

Thanks for the input...I'm definitely going to be getting bigger shocks. I was thinking about Fox 12" in the back and the bilsteins struts in the front.

I am going to do the pinch weld all before the lift so I can get as much out of the way as possible before the fun stuff comes along!
