Engine cranking issue..
Hey all got some starting issues with the jeep after I replaced a bunch of parts and cleaned the rest. We were having issues with the battery so I replaced it, alternator was checked good, so everything was fine there. I also took out the IAC and cleaned it along with the TB. Initial cranks were good but some hesitation afterwards...I understand it takes the PCM a bunch of cold starts to relearn settings. Then I decided to change the fuel filter since we're approaching 100K even though we've only owned it since 50K. I replaced it with a napa gold. It was quite a bitch getting that quick disconnect off but eventually it did. Fired up ok, but it seems that since then It wont turn over immediately. This is on a cold start..cranks a few times before it will turn over. I'm not sure why...there is no CEL...any ideas?I've read recently that napa filters are not that great but would they be causing these issues? Thanks for any input.

Re: Engine cranking issue..
Isn´t "cranking" and "turning" not the same thing:confused::rolleyes:
But ok, it will probably crank normally, but not start imediately. The next time try to prime the fuel lines, switch the ignition in on for a few seconds and off again and do this 3 times, after the third time see if it will start imediately. If yes, your problem is a fuel pressure loss, probably caused by the fuel filter/pressure regulator, which is suppost to keep the pressure in the fuel rail. You could also check before starting if there is pressure on the fuel rail, by pressing the schräder valve on the fuel rail (right side, looking from drivers position i believe). If fuel comes out under pressure its ok, if no or very little drips out, you lost the pressure in the rail.

Re: Engine cranking issue..
You may have a bad filter, if its external, there is a regulator in it and it may defective out of the box possibly a fuel leak back there from fighting with the lines ;) , otherwise you may be dealing with a fuel pump issue.

Re: Engine cranking issue..
Thanks for the replies, I never officially primed the lines after I installed the filter, I just cranked it till it primed and started up. I bled the rail twice after priming, there wasn't a ton of pressure. Since all this Everything has been running fine. No CEL, and idle is great at 5-600. Thanks for all the input!
