Roof Rack Cross Rails

Do you like to rock your WK with, or without cross rails?

I never know what I want to do with mine. I think it looks cooler and tougher with the cross rails up there, but then again I never use them.

I only use mine for our kayaks. I'd take them off if I didn't need them.

U name it Sigz, i took off mines for few weeks. looks like JapSUV. Taking of the bars make sense on 20".

Can't imagine cross rails doing much damage to the mpg's in the city.

Anyone have any factual data of mpg's and cross rails at highway speeds?

I only put mine on when I need to carry something up there. I noticed that I get around 1 mpg better with out them.

just took mine off the other day, getting about 1mpg gain on my average. I think it looks a little cleaner too!

jeep claims 10% reduction with rails installed. that is why they didnt install them on the wk2 from the factory

I took em off. I guess it doesn't look too bad, and I feel like I'm getting at least 1mpg better on the highway.

Still doesn't look as 'mean' IMO.

Re: Roof Rack Cross Rails

In the summer I like to leave my cross rails on...(I have Thule Aeroblades as opposed to the factory crosses)..and I leave my kayak rack attachment on them.... After summer, I'll take the kayak rack off..but still keep the Thule Crossbars on my siderails.. I like the more agressive look of the crossbars, plus just in case I ever need to throw anything up there I have em on... and also the 1mpg loss doesn't kill me. If we off road jeep guys decided to lift and get bigger tires.. I think the thoughts of MPG went out the door with that :D
thats just IMO though and preference for my jeep.
