2006 4.7 stalling out!

From the day i got my GC when ever i was slow rolling under 1000 rpm or slowing down and not fully stopped il start to chug like the gears are jumping and skipping and i can tell its about to stall i either have to stop completely or give it gas. wasnt to worried about this because it wasnt that bad and only happened ever so often and i new how to handle the problem. but the other day i was making a right turn in a 4 way intersection, i had a green light and as i was slowing down to make the turn went i stalled lost all power, steering and brakes and wemt right into on coming trafic. luckly nothing happened. NOT ok that this happened. If any one has had thid problem or might no of anything like this ide like some help before i have to take it to the dealership and they clean out my bank account. Thanks!

Tough problem, multiple cases like this have popped up. Often an electrical gremlin related to sensors or electrical connections/battery etc. Id check the battery, free tests at NAPA, check/clean all your connections to PCM and any others easily accesible ones under the hood (good habit to get into) Also check out your plugs and you could even run some quality fuel system cleaner through a tank to try and free any build up that may be there. I like techron but een seafoam has worked magic for some people. Be careful though, make sure you have full tank when you run bottle through the tank. I dont like running it through the engine (in crankcase/vaccum lines) because normal maintenance is enough and renders seafoaming unnecessary until you get well into the 100k mile mark when carbon buildup is significant.

You say its under 1000rpm though so low rpms the EGR/PCV valves would make sense if it was surging/idling funny. Also the cam/crank sensors or and even idle air valve could be at fault.

Did it throw a code? It should have, check for pending codes and see if anything comes up and report back, something should be stored in the computer.

I have had this happen while backing into my garage twice. Once was pcv and once was plugs. I hope it is something simple and cheap for you

Ok My Jeep was doing all the same things, I finaly got tired of it and after the check engine light came on I took it to the stealership. After a full day of diagnostic it came back that my PCM was fried, along with my altenator and EGR valve. so my question is, how much did your egr valve cost, where did you get it and how much of a PITA is it to put in?

EGR was cheap from advance auto. it is in a difficult place to reach so i had my mechanic do it. it was one hour of labor.

EGR took me about 45 minutes with a decent set of tools and a quick break. There is a thread here with step by step instructions for the 4.7.

I have the same issue with my wife's 2005 wk. Even after a full tune up at the dealership with all new plugs and wires i still had the same issue. Vehicle would surge and have erratic idle then the engine would kill. It has always started back up and never thrown a code?! Since the tune up i have switched back to the stock intake from an airaid cai, no fix, pulled the intake manifold and checked gaskets which were all fine and no leaks, so no fix either. With out a code i feel like im wasting my money on changing out parts because of the number of possibilities. Not to mention there is some serious issues with the suspension. All new bilsteins on all 4 corners and it still rides like shit and throws you all over the place. It's and 05' with 85k miles. Wish i could get rid of it but im stuck till my truck is paid off.

Found if you clean your pcm body ground fixes this problem.
