Transmission problem (again)
Those of you who are a bit longer a garage member probably remember that last year in July my tranny lost 3rd gear and that a complete:confused: rebuild was done. The tranny was removed 3 times, first time for the rebuild, second time for a leak of the torque converter just after the rebuild and a third time 5 weeks later when it lost 3rd gear again.
Now that we are almost one year later, the tranny is losing 2nd gear:mad:. It takes of normally, but then 2nd gear starts slipping badly and it goes into limp mode. In limp mode it normally has 2nd and 3rd gear, depending on gear lever position. When put in 2nd, it slips badly as well, so most probably the 2C clutch is worn or has some kind of hydraulic leak. According to the rebuilder a complete rebuild was done, but i have my doubts. Now after this all happened i donīt know who i can thrust to do the job again and i also donīt like to spend the same amount again.
Just wondering if somebody overhere already did the overhaul himself and how difficult it was to do.
I have a rebuild manual already, have a reasonable amount of tools or can loan some and know how to use my hands. Sofar my biggest problem seems to be time, or better said, lack of it.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

Wow frank sorry to hear you are still having a problem with those clutches. Maybe when you open it up you will see a little gremlin running around you can pull out  my transmission knowledge ends at replacing the shift solenoid and installing the transgo kit on the valve body so hopefully someone else can add something useful. I wonder if it could be caused by a valve body problem? Hmm well best of luck with the repairs!

Re: Transmission problem (again)
my only .02 on the topic to give is that its a BIG job with ALOT of parts and ALOT of opportunity to do something wrong, and unfourtunatly you dont really know for sure till its back in, full of fresh atf and your trying it...

If you take your time, take ALOT of pictures and stay organized it is really not a bad job, you will run into some issues in the input clutch assembly requires some guides to prevent seal damage along with a press and some decent snap ring pliers.

Re: Transmission problem (again)
Sorry Frank. I think after all this I'd move on to another trans. There's something going on there that everybody's missing. Good luck bud.

Re: Transmission problem (again)
Thanks Dave, but an other trans would be a very expensive excersise overhere, if one can be found. Jeeps are quite rare overhere and parts very expensive. Also the knowledge from the mechanics on Jeeps is as good as NIL. Saturday i will put the old TRS/solenoid block back in, to see if that will change anything, but thereafter i will pull the tranny and get a complete MOPAR master kit. Already found one on e-bay.
This would be a nice one for a "How To" with pictures..........
