Noise from Fuel tank
When I start in the morning she fires up immediately & purrs lovely :-) then after 30 - 60 seconds a whining/buzzing noise comes from the fuel tank - I stuck my head under. It doesn't always make this noise though, it comes & goes.
Local(ish)Jeep dealer checked it out & reckons I need a new "lift pump" at £625!! ($975) + Labour + Tax !.
Anyone have any ideas or experiences? Could it just be a blocked filter? Another forum (gasp) had an owner with similar problem which turned out to be "in-tank fuel transfer pump", do all WK CRD have these too?
What's so special about this pump to be so expensive? I couldn't find a diesel fuel system schematic to see what it does, or what else is involved, but believe there's another pump up in the engine bay.
Tank needs to be empty & removed to access this pump too, which is a nuisance to get a quick check.
Re: Noise from Fuel tank
Check your fuel cap. Open the cap and start the motor. If noise disepear you find the problem - clogged tank cap.
