WK2 body wiring - electronic copy?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a wiring diagram for the WK2 headlights and DRLs.

I want to see if there is a simple wiring tweak that would leave both DRLs on when the turn signals are active.

I searched but only found the diagrams for the audio/entertainment.

They only have owner's manuals on techauthority.com.

Thanks in advance,

=Bill

I'm not certain, but I'm betting it's going to be bus controlled which would pretty much trash being able to cut and splice.

I just need to get ambious and see what the impedance looks like when they are off (while the turn signal is on).

I removed the two relays that contol them because (to me) it looks like a DRL lamp failure while the turn signal is on.

The fact that they are controlled by relays makes me think that it would be safe to simply put a jumper wire between the DRL positive leads but It would be handy to see a schematic first.

Just thinking out loud.

Not sure what to tell you bud. A huge majority of the lighting circuits are on a particular regulated load. Too much load or lack thereof and the bus will shut down the circuit in question. I know this is true on the headlamps, but I'm uncertain if that applies to turn/DRL circuits. Either way, there are ways to simulate/bypass load concerns.

I hear you. If an error/warning message appeared when I removed the relays, I'd say there's no way to do it. But if the DRLs are simply powered by the relay's out put, ganging them should be no problem. It won't be long before my curiousity leads to experimentation :^)

Haha. I heard that! Let me know what you find out.

Speaking of turns/drls, I like the idea Audi has done with it's forward LED DRL strips which are white. Once the turn signal is activated, they change color to amber.

You could always do a LED array and have the option of a white DRL and one BIG A$$ amber turn signal. hehe

I just noticed this yesterday while stopped waiting for left turn, I thought one of my headlight was out. I was admiring my jeep's reflection on the van in front of me. :)

Is it possible for us to see all of that last page that shows the DRL Relays and where the wiring runs to?

Suspect that "circuit board" at the top is the "front control module" contained in the Integrated Power Center.

Which relays did you pull ?

Am slowly accumulating all of these tantalizing bits, have over 120 MB now, pretty soom I'll have a complete wiring diagram. Would be much easier if Chrysler would just sell to owners, that way they could maintain the copyright & make some money.

Milous,

Thanks for the PDF.

It looks cutoff at the bottom. Is it possible to get a few more pages of that?

I'm thinking the DRLs are turned off while a turn signal is active by de-energizing the appropriate relay and leaving infinite impedance looking back into the harness from the DRL bulb. If so, all we need to do is run a jumper from one relay/bulb to the other. I plan to experiment but knowing how the wiring runs between the DRL relays and DRL bulbs would be very useful.

The diagram doesn't show much more, but I have attached a new file that is not cut off.
