How many forward gears does a GC has

I an on a GC laredo 70 anni. 3.6L V6 2011.
On the mannual shift i have a count of 4 forward gears only ?
Is it a 5 forward gears then or only 4 + 1 for reverse ?

6 + reverse.

You have 5 normal forward gears, and there is a 6th gear for kickdowns that is only accessed by a throttle burst. The 6 speed in the 2012 is the same, except the kickdown gear can be accessed by autostick, and they started counting it for marketing purposes.

You may not be going fast enough to get into 5th gear.

Doesn't the 3.6L V6 2011 only have 5?

Negative. It has the "5 speed" which has 6, and is the "6 speed" with a new name and a little different software.

EDIT: Unless it's using the Mercedes transmission like the Charger was, which is truly 5 gears. It seems like Laredos may have that tranny, but Limiteds and up do not. Who knows for the 70th.

The 3.6L has the WA5850 which is 5 forward and 1 reverse. The 5.7L Hemi has the 545RFE which is a 6 speed. They are two different transmissions.

The WA5850 5 speed transmission is also in the 3.0 CRD, and in the SRT.

No, wrong transmission, OP was asking about the Mercedes tranny mated to the V6 (GC laredo 70 anni. 3.6L V6 2011).

As a side note, I think someone here verified that the 2012 V8 transmission is programmed to actually use all 6 ratios on acceleration and deceleration under typical conditions.

Are you sure the SRT and CRD use the WA5850? Wouldn't it make sense for the SRT's Hemi to use the same transmission as the 5.7L Hemi?

The SRT has the 5 speed.. Pretty sure the 2011 5.7 has the 5 speed with the kick down gear and the 2012 5.7 has the full 6 speeds.

Interesting. I figured the 545RFE was used for increased power handling over the Merc tranny, I wonder why the SRT8 would be using the Merc tranny.

I guess it's because the Merc transmission allows for less overdrive and its gearing emphasizes acceleration.

The 5 speed with the kickdown is the same as the 6 speed, with slightly adjusted software.

I read that the 5 speed Merc has higher inherent torque handling capability than the chrysler 6 speed. I think the Chrysler 6 speed relies on torque management to survive.
