From what i understand it sounds like Borla is just releasing a rear section only as to not effect the MDS valves. There will be two setups, the S and ATAK. I think part numbers of 11826 and 11827. Supposedly with in the next couple weeks or so they should be listed on Borla's site. Delays happen, so it may change.
The S is an aggressive sound. The ATAK even more so. The ATAK is the loudest street legal setup. The ATAK is sound tuned specifically for each vehicle. That's it in a nutshell. Just do a little Googling and YouTubing and you'll learn all about them.
Judging from those pics in the first post they seemed to have done away with the rear factory exhaust valves, wondering where they relocated them to or how they worked around that.
From my understanding Borla told me they left the MDS valves alone, so there must be two sets in the exhaust system. I've only noticed the valves near the rear end and those are removed with the Borla exhaust. Maybe the rear valves are for sound only? Either way according to the the SRT Engineer chat, the valves do allow the MDS to operate over a slightly larger range, so removing them shouldn't be a big deal. They are there for sound control. Borla says the new exhausts sound great across the engine range and without drone.
Anywho, if you're unsure just wait a while longer and members will be posting up their results.
anyone on here install the ATAK yet? I like the look of it. would this borla system replace the resonators or whatever is just behind the tips on the OEM Jeep SRT8? My black paint is peeling off on these little things and it would be cool to replace with this borla setup.
It replaces all the factory exhaust parts from the rear axel back. So yes to your question. No one has installed one yet. Order bank just opened and I was one of the first to place an order. As for when the system ship is not known yet. I would assume within the week or so we should receive our orders. I've sent an email asking about the shipping status of mine. Haven't heard back yet.
Gotcha. I'm still debating if I'll lower mine. If I do I probably won't be the first to do so. I kinda like the couple extra inches of clearance. But lowering it 1" wouldn't be bad. I slammed my WK1 with bwoodys. Sometimes only having 5" of clearance to the bumper got annoying.
