Dreaded reoccuring evap codes
Been fighting emissions system issues for 2 months and reoccurring check engine lights for evap codes: small leak, gross leak/no flow...Took it to local shop and had smoke tested and a new OEM leak detection pump put in because it was wet and not because they saw smoke...light back in 6 they found a hose disconnected and put it back on (their fault)...light back in 6 days. Then they said to get new OEM gas cap which I did and light back on again 6 days later. (Assumingly guessing by now) they said it could be the vent valve. I ordered an OEM vent valve and replaced myself along with a cracked vent hose where it connects to metal line by gas tank (also went nuts adding small hose clamps where I could). Six days later another check engine light for gross leak/no flow. Today I bought and installed a purge solenoid and reset light and will see what happens in six days. I was not able to get the last bolt loose to pull evap canister and check for cracks but I am beyond frustrated and looking for help or advice here. I heard something about an o-ring on top of gas tank that could be bad and/or the filler tube leaking and am wondering if anyone has actually had this occur. Thanks in advance...any advice is greatly appreciated as I am determined to get this fixed...

Re: Dreaded reoccuring evap codes
I chased a similar problem that turned out to be a leak in the top pf the tank caused by the hole in the tank where about a 2 inch diameter fitting that went into the top of the tank leaked. Both the tank and the fitting seemed to be the same ABS plastic, so some ABS cement from the local hardware store cured the problem. If you looked carefully, you could see that the molded hole in the tank was no longer round enough to seal.
