laundry list of issues with Liberty..

Hi all, new here -

I have a 2011 Liberty Sport that I got in Dec 2011. I had a 2000 Cherokee that I had purchased new & owned until a d-bag semi driver ran me off the road, causing me to roll the vehicle at 60 mph. I came out of it with bumps, bruises, & a pretty nasty concussion but nothing serious - I'm convinced that in another vehicle, I wouldn't have been so lucky. The vehicle was totalled, unfortunately, and I still miss it.

Anyway, to my question(s). I was under the gun to get a new vehicle & found a 2011 Liberty that had been a rental. Was "certified used" so I felt comfortable getting it even though it was a rental. I'm starting to think that was a mistake. Since I got the vehicle..

Cruise Control works sporadically. When it doesn't turn on, nothing will make it work except turning the car off & then back on (not practical while going down the road..). Dealership has looked at it several times, replaced the steering wheel control, "flashed" the system - still having the problem. They told me they don't know what to do next.

Clock on radio loses 3-4 minutes per week. I was told this is a "known issue" but there's no fix. Dealership's solution - "use your phone to check the time".

When I back out of the driveway, going from reverse to drive I hear a series of "clunks" (about 5-6 times), then it stops. Only does it when going from reverse to drive. Dealership took it for a drive, didn't hear it so said there's nothing they can do.

Worst, in the last week or two, occasionally when I start the car, it will start, the engine revs to about 4000 rpms for 1-2 seconds, then dies. After it does this, it won't start. After I leave it for 10 minutes or so, it starts. I haven't had it in for this issue yet, but I'm about ready to bring it back to the dealer & leave it there.

Has anyone else experienced any of these things, and if so - found solutions?

thanks in advance!!

currently tech connect is down so I have no software update for your radio, but I know for a time we were getting alot of cutomers in with the same complaint, last I heard there is still no update to repair this concern, it is a known concern and it is being worked on but no update yet.

I need tech connect to review CC inhibit items to see if that will shed light on the intermittant operation... to be clear when it doesnt work does the CC button turn the cruise control on in the cluster when?

The clunking is really hard to say without experienceing it first hand, sorry.

Did you get a check engine lamp when the vehicle revved and died?

Thanks for the reply! As far the cruise control issue, if I'm understanding your question, when the cruise does not work, the "cruise" light does not come on. When I hit the button on the steering wheel to turn the cruise on, absolutely nothing happens.

On the revving & then dying issue, no check engine light - nothing seems out of the ordinary except that it revs then dies. When I try to immediately start it after it does that, it either does the same thing repeatedly or it turns over but won't fire..

I guess I "get" to add one more to the list. Last night my low tire pressure indicator came on. I just had the oil changed recently & tire pressure was checked at that point so I was surprised. I checked pressures, 3 out of 4 were perfect - the 4th was a couple pounds low but not significant. From what I've read, the indicator doesn't come on til pressure would be down around 25psi, & it definitely wasn't that low.

According to the manual, it can take up to 20 minutes for the indicator to turn off. I've driven approx 1 hour since, & the indicator is still on. I'm anticipating that it's going to stay on, & that the problem is with the sensor, not the tire pressure.

Can anyone refresh me on lemon laws?? ;)

Ha! I guess the sensor is ok after all! Came out to my car at lunch today to a COMPLETELY flat tire.
