Weekend wheeling Pics!

Spent Saturday at Area 51(code name for the area we are scouting, keeing it quiet for now!) with a couple of mates from the Brisbane Jeep Club, scouting some new wheeling areas. Then had a late Saturday night which i will explain later :slapfight:, and spent today with 12 other IFS jeeps through the Glasshouse Mountains!

Hmmm, snoozy time.

What are you using for CV shafts/boots?

Is that flatbed your personal tow rig, or did you break something or maybe I should have looked closer at that pic of the axle shaft...take this as the perfect excuse to be the first to slap a straight axle on a WK. BTW, great pics!

The one that busted was an AWPI i think from Rockauto. FActory shafts are sooo much stronger.

CV's are an easy thing, not even 30mins a side to change. Problem was i only had a spare for the other side :slapfight:. I usually carry 2 spares but used the last one 2 weeks ago. It needs stronger shafts but the RCV ones are 2k a set and they dont do them for QDII yet.

This is the CV - in 2 pieces.....

Thats what I thought, working for corporate for a while, I never really saw any issues with the OE units... Then again we don't see as steep of angles on oe applications as lifted, I know the Libertys when lifted like to NOM NOM on cv shafts...

These pics are from the Next Day, the Murchison Products "Independants Day", nothing but IFS on the Run.

Posing for the crowd! there were a couple of other WH owners there who hadnt done much wheeling. They learned some new tricks about the capability of their Jeeps!

And lets face it, i dont think anyone who built it thought there would be 35" tyres on them either!

Ive already started trying to grab any low K cv's from written off WH's, the LHS CV is one from a 3k old Hemi writeoff, and hasn't made a noise or anything even with the 35's. The factory shafts in mine lasted till 100k (kms) and 30k of that was with mud tyres and all offroad.

Sweet pictures, looks like tons of fun, you ever disconnect the front sway bar?

Valpacer 07-12-2012 05:45 AM

Re: Weekend wheeling Pics!

Usually, I havent run it for the last 2 years. I still havent setup the front limiting straps yet, so im using the Swaybar to limit front travel for now.
