2011 Cherokee Towing ?

I have an '11 Overland 4x4 hemi with the factory tow. Looking to hear from owners that have towed Travel Trailers or toy haulers with gross weight in the 5,300 lb or heavier range.

I am looking at toy haulers that are around 4,100 lbs and about 22 feet in length. After I load my atv and gear it will be 5,300 lbs or more. I will be using a weight distribution hitch (probably the equalizer) and a brake controller.

I don't want to tow a trailer that taxes the car or taxes me nor do I want to sell the jeep and get a 1/2 ton truck.

I know my figures are within spec but looking for people with actual travel trailer towing experience. Thanks.

Not sure if it's as heavy as you are looking for, but here's mine with 2 atvs and a side-by-side..

I recall reading a tow thread maybe 6 month ago or so where guys were trying to one up each other with the amount they easily tow. I think you are a lightweight in comparison to many in that thread.

I have a 11' WK2, V8 4x4 Overland and I've used it to tow a 18' toy hauler with a RZR XP in it.

I think the dry weight of the trailer was around 4,000lbs, plus a 1,200lb RZR, plus ice chests, gas, firewood, food, etc. I'm guessing I was in the 5,800lb range.

I also had the weight distribution hitch and brake controller. The Jeep did pretty good towing. I set the cruise at 70mph from Phoenix to Glamis sand dunes. There were some downshifts required through the hills, and got an average of 7-8 mpg.

My setup will be 24' long including the tongue but will probably be a gross weight of 5,500lbs or less. Glad to hear the Hemi is up to the task. Sucks that I will get 7-8 mpg

I see this thread is a bit old now, but I am pulling a 23 foot Malibu wakesetter boat with my Hemi Overland. Everything together (boat/trailer/gas/gear/etc..) it weighs approximately 5500lbs. Tongue weight is 600 lbs. I tow it at 70 mph with good performance. Haven't done a lot of long distance towing, but maybe 100-150 mile trips. I got 11.5mpg last time out. My only complaint is at times the trailer does man-handle the jeep a tiny bit going over bumps or in wind that I think wouldn't be there in a fullsize pickup. Other than that, it tows great, has plenty of power, and with the quadralift/automatic load leveling, there's no need for load bars or load leveling hitch.
