Shaking between 62 & 80 mph

DROVE 4 1/.2 HRS TO GET NEW GRAND CHEROKEE. BECAME A NIGHTMARE WITH THE DEALER. 10 MILES INTO THE DRIVE HOME I FELT SHALING IN THE REAR AND THEN TRAVELED TO FRONT AND REMAINED THROUGHT THE VEHICLE. DIFFRENT SPEEDS IT WORK BE LESS OR GET WORSE. SOMETIMES GOING UP HILL IT WOULD LESSON AND GET WORSE WHEN LETTING OFF THE GAS ON THE OTHER SIDE. SEEMS WORSE AROUND 72 OR 75 MPH. CALLED MY DODGE / JEEP DEALER WITH ONLY 50 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND SET UP AN APPT. GOT HOME TOOK IT TO THEM THE NEXT DAY. BALANCED ALL 4 TIRES AND SAID PROBLEM FIXED. NOPE SAME ISSUE JUST NOT AS BAD, DROVE 40 MILES HOME. 2 DAYS LATER WENT UP STATE. 200 MILES ONE WAY. YUP YOU GUESSED IT SAME ISSUE AS WHEN IT WAS FIRST BOUGHT. ON THE WAY HOME I CALLED MY DEALER AGAIN TO SET UP NEW APPT. GOES IN TOMORROW ON TUESDAY. FOUND IN THIS SITE THE ISSUE MAY BE TIRES. i HAVE THE GOOD YEARS THAT IT COMES WITH. OTHERS CLAIM TO HAVE CHANGED TO MICHELINS AND WALLLLAAAHHHH PROBLEM SOLVED. ANY ADVISE BECAUSE I KNOW I WILL GET THE RUN AROUND OR THEY WILL SAY THAT THEY CANT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. GOT SO AGRAVATED WITH IT. TRADED IN MY MINT CONDITION TOWN & COUNTRY 2009 WITH A SIUMILAR ISSUE. REPLACED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS AT 11 K. SECOND SET AT 25 K. MANY ISSUES WITH THAT. ANY WAY i THOUGHT MY PROBLEMS WERE OVER WITH THE NEW JEEP. ALL I SEEMED TO DO WAS GET A NEW VEHICLE WITH THE SIMILAR ISSUE. OTHERWISE I REALLY LIKE THE JEEP, ITS THE WIFES AND SHE FEELS VERY SAFE IN IT. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME........................

You are in the same boat with many of us! Assorted troubles are plentiful with the new jeeps.

There are many threads in here discussing many similiar troubles!

I had same issue. Took it to dealer and they road force balanced the tires. That worker for a minute. Took back to dealer again and they test drove and said everything was good. I went to discount tire and had them balance tires (not a kid)and it has been pretty good. I see there is a lot of weight on one tire. It is defenatly the wheels and tires doing all the shaking.

I have a 2011 overland with 20" wheels and good year tires. 4x4

I see this same problem moved from one platform to another .. WK1 to WK2. So it must be the AWD driveline. Some guys have chased this for years with no clear resolution from Chrysler - they spent thousands of their own money.

All I have to say, Chyrsler Jeep should be forced to post a warning that your new vehicle may or may not shake, vibrate or shudder for the life of the vehicle - proceed at your own risk.

This is why I need to simply turn my back on the brand. :(

I have this problem as well.... I hope I can get it resolved during the next oil change if they balance/rotate the tires.

Out of curiosity, is this something that has developed for you guys over time, or did the problem present itself immediately after you purchased and got it up to that speed?

Also, I assume this is different from the vibration described here: http://www.jeepgarage.org/showthread...ight=vibration

One of the wheels could be out of round, I had that problem with my srt reps. Have the dealership check the wheels only.

I have the same issue on my 2011 Limited...Once the tires wear down more, I plan to replace and possibily road-force balance. We should NOT have to road-force balance these wheels as this is not a high-performance sports car...

What engine do you guys have? My 3.6 WK2 is perfect, but my 5.7 Durango shakes like crazy, seems like it's a transmission issue though

Re: Shaking between 62 & 80 mph

I have the 3.6..I get shaking in the steering wheel only. So I am fairly certain its something to do with the tires/balance.

These tires dont have a ton more tread life left in them, so for now they will do.

Re: Shaking between 62 & 80 mph

Hey Guys, I was having the same issue back about a month ago and I figured out it was the lower control arm bushings worn out! some people even said that they had to change theirs at 30k (crappy manufacturing) after that it was smooth sailing. Mine only vibrated when I was slowing down(not braking) from around 80 to 60 anywhere in between, I balanced my tires 4 times at 4 different locations due to my new wheels and each time they tested each wheel also but it felt exactly the same afterwards, one huge clue was that when even at slow speeds when passing over a pot hole or bump you could hear a faint noise coming from the front end. My Jeep is a 05' WK Srt Springs all around (NEW)SRT Bilstein, NEW Moog front Strut Mounts 20" tires with 245/45/20 hope this helps!!
