Relocating second battery

1 Attachment(s)
Ok guys here is my predicament. About a year ago i purchased a second battery from my local audio shop to act as a capacitor for my audio system. It was only supposed to be a small kinetic battery about 100 amps. The problem was the audio shops supplier was out of this model so they send me the only battery they had in stock which was a big 1600 amp kinetic battery for the same price (Great for me right?). I have really come to love the second battery, easy cold starts, accessory power and I can let my car sit for months and not worry aboiut the battery dying. I have it connected in parallel with an optima yellow top. The only problem is that I would really like to relocate this battery to another location due to the size and I would like be able to put stuff into my trunk without having to disconnect the battery.

My current setup looks like this....

My plan is to mount both amps under the floorboard with a custom floor, but I need somewhere to stick the battery. I was thinking about cutting the bottom of the rear seats to allow it to fit, but I dont know how that would work.

Any Ideas would be great!

What about relocating everything to under the rear cargo tray?

The battery is to big to fit under there unless I get a custom one made. It is about the size of a regular starter battery under the hood

You should never have a battery in the Vehicle, when it is on the charging cycle it can produce harmful gases. As for where to put it I am not sure there is a suitable place for a battery anywhere in the truck, unless you delete your Airbox and put a CAI in.

This is an AGM sealed battery. It produces no gas like a lead acid battery. That is a good idea to put the battery down where the air box used to be. I have a cold air. I wonder how to make a bracket to fit it down there.

You could buy an aluminum battery box from Summit Racing or JEGS and mount that in the rear like it's meant to be or use it as the basis for a custom tray.

Where in the rear are you recommending?

Sorry, i guess i never saw that you responded after my last post in this thread.

The battery box's are usually mounted off to the side, near the back of the cargo area. Not very clean but the box protects you from accidently touching any live terminals.

I've never measured but what if you were to remove part of the tray that holds the jack and wrench for the spare tire? That part angles upwards right behind the back seat. You would only have to remove a small section to fit the battery. Build some kind of cover and there you go, easy to access but secure and out of the way.
