Project Altitude - Build thread

Welcome to my build thread! This forum has been a huge help for those like me that want to personalize and upgrade our WK2s. With a little help from justforjeeps.com, I've started modifying my rig into something that will stand out from the pack. First things first - out with the Chrome, in with the Altitude!

Altitude Front Grill, fresh from the packing peanuts

Time to take apart the truck. Once you understand how much force to apply, removing the front bumper is actually quite simple. It took me an hour to figure it out, but it's realistic to get it done in just 20 minutes. The one exception is the plastic rivets in the front of wheel well - those got mangled. However, since I plan on removing the bumper again in the future, I'm not even going to bother to replace them.

Once the bumper is off, removal of the factory grill is snap. Two bolts at the bottom and 4 clips at the top - done.

Likewise, installing the new grill is a breeze.

In addition to the Altitude grill, I also replaced the chrome fog bezels with the OEM black bezels and the chrome sideview mirror with my OEM color-matched ones.

Here's a shot of the finished job! I'm happy with the look, but it will look much better when I get the Altitude headlights and a set of black aftermarket wheels.

Almost forgot, I swapped the rear brow, too. ;) I'm considering applying a light tint over the taillights to better match the black.

That looks great on that color nice job!! As for tinting the tails, to me that degrades the look, but if you like it that's all that matters. I personally like it as you have it right now.
Altitude black bezeled headlight would look killer as well!!

I'm still on the fence regarding the tint. Not talking about a blackout, just a shade darker over the red of the taillight. We'll see.

looks good, im wanting the same parts, just havent wanted to drop the coin on all of that just yet. ive never tinted tails on any of my cars/trucks before, but i just did on my jeep and love the look. i did mine myself with stick on tint from Lamin-x.com and it turned out great. plus only $60, and this month they have 10% off.

Looks real sharp! Have you considered getting the Altitude wheels? Those would look good I think.
