Ive been told that you MUST have the keyless and go BEFORE remote start can be added...so no...you cant add it and it wont add keyless and go. Sucks....I wanted to add remote start for when my wife is at work in the winter months.

I guess ill have to find out if they can install keyless go and then install the remote start, I just hope it doesn't cost too much $$$ for the keyless go:confused:

Re: adding remote start questions

If you have keyless n go is the remote start just getting the remote with the button and a reflash or is it actual hardware that has to be installed?

Re: adding remote start questions

There is hardware involved. From the instructions manual available at JustForJeeps.com it seems like quite the lengthy project! Plus the dealer has to activate it using their scan tool.

I'm not too impressed with the factory remote start. It seems the range is very limited, and the signal is a bit unreliable even close.

I do like the keyless enter and go. It is such a convenience to be able to open the door without the need to fish the key out of my pocket, especially when my hands are full with the little one.

Re: adding remote start questions

I have OEM remote start on my 2012 durango that I had them add and I do not have the enter and go with push button...good ole factory remote control door locks and key ignition. They added it to my purchase of the vehicle installed and ready to go for 500.00 when i bought it. The enter and go and remote start are two seperate boxes and programs therefore you can have one and not the other. Although on my SXT durango (base model) I know have a key fob for the push button power lift gate which does nothing since i have a manual lift gate.

Also i have not had the range problem at all with my remote start or keyfob, I am actually suprised at how far away it reaches

Our factory remote start is terrible. 2011 Overland and it is iffy at best. 90% of the time it will only work when within a few feet of the truck. Best I have ever experienced was maybe 20 feet away holding the remote to the top of my head or under my chin.

Took it in twice (two different dealers):
1. Replaced the key fobs - no change
2. Replaced the receiver and antenna - no change

At this point, I think we are giving up and may look at aftermarket systems I have seen work from crazy distances. :-)

Interesting. Mine works reliably at distances of over 70ft. I wonder if there is an antenna issue that could be resolved in the vehicle....
