Buying tires this week

I'm done with the stock forteras. I didn't feel comfortable with them since day 1 and tonight while coming home towing my hunting buggy it started raining. Front end was all over the place and I was coming through a ton of traffic. Not a safe situation.

I'm thinking of the terra grapplers in the 265/50/20 size. Anyone running those with good results? I spend a lot of time on muddy roads orotund our hunting property so I want something that handles mud well but in the stock size.

I just bought those about 2 weeks ago and so far so good. Although it hasn't rained here yet since (really it sometimes doesn't rain in Seattle) so can't tell you how they faired. I have noticed a low "humming" noise at about 20-40 mph but it goes away. I know this isn't much help to you but i've heard many good things about how well these tires hold up in the rain/snow/mud.

Thanks for the update. Do you have any pictures of them? Do they look good on the jeep?

I also have had wet weather issues with the forteras. I had the terra grapplers on my F150 and they were great and lasted forever!

Nitto Terra Grappler 265/50/20's installed. Goodbye Forterra's.

I am quite happy with the new BFG Rugged Terrains in the stock 18" size. They are a little louder than stock at ~40-50 mph but not too bad, just as quiet as stock at any other speed.

About two weeks into the nittos. They're fantastic. I can actually turn the jeep while it's raining. The forterras were simply a water hazard.
I get a ton of compliments on the look. Not too aggressive yet meaner looking than the forterras.
Hunting season starts in a few weeks so I'll be reporting back on their off road capabilities soon.

Sorry to post on an old thread...but did the new tires affect MPG at all?

I'm sure they make more noise than the Fortera's.
