QL on a service lift, no good?

Was told by a service manager that if the wheels are off the ground with a QL, the air bags would explode. Any truth to this?

no it's not going to explode. go to a different dealer he's an idiot they should know how to Disable the QL.

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_quadralift.htm

Before working under the vehicle, it is necessary to disable the Quadra-Lift system to prevent unintended raising or lowering of the suspension, which is a potential safety concern. To temporarily disable the Quadra-Lift system, press and hold the suspension up and suspension down buttons simultaneously for 5 to 10 seconds. A message appears in the EVIC indicating that the Quadra-Lift system has been disabled. This is one of many reasons why following service and diagnostic information is critical

when it's disable, does it just stay in Normal height mode or whatever the last setting was?

It stays where it was when you shut it off ... and it will not re-enable until you drive the car over 5 mph.

OMFG. You guys need to hold these people responsible for this kind of sh!t. Names/Dates/Times/Shop location. Take it all the way up the top until you get some answers and feedback from Chrysler Corporation. These people need to be flushed.

If this is what a service manager actually said, then he/she obviously doesn't know anything about the product he/she is supposed to service. It's amazing what stuff some of the dealer personnel come up with.

I would make a b line for another dealership and never look back.

When I last rotated tires I had all four wheels off the ground, didn't do a damn thing to disable the air suspension and heck, no explosion. What did I do wrong? ;)

Wow that service person needs to go back through training.

1: A suspension in full extension isn't held on by the springs - there are bump stops on the shocks that stop the movement.
2: For the airbags to explode they'd have to be put under tremendous pressure. Since the weight is off the wheels and compressor is off - where is that pressure coming from?
3: What do they think would happen if you lifted a wheel when off roading?
4: They should know how to disable the system.

I'd email the dealer service manager and CC the owner or GM. Tell them you want to return the car because you are afraid of your airbags exploding!

Literally a second after this was taken my back right tire blew off and shot about a 100 yards. Those airbags are dangerous. Be careful.
