2012 Laredo looking for a tire upgrade

Anyone have any thoughts to an uprade to the stock 17 inch wheel tires. Forteras don't seem to be aggressive enough for east coast winters. Im looking for something related to the nitto grapplers. Thx!

The Nitto's would certainly handle winter and anything else you come across! For a tamer but more than adequate tire many here are running GY SilentArmors. I am using Michelin LTX M/S'2. I do not know about 17" sizes though. Let us know what you end up getting.

Thx for the feedback. I'll look into those for sure. Need to sell my crapteras first!

My nittos should be in Saturday. Had them on my suburban. Loved them. Good mileage out of them and great traction.

The tires are the first thing that I change on my vehicles from the get go, but I actually like the GY Fortera in the 20's on my new rig... I may be changing my mind come winter if they do not perform well but if so than next year will be a tire upgrade. I like Cooper tire..

I'm sure their nice on the 20 inch wheels. Look underwhelming in 17.

I have the Toyo Open Country's and love them. I had them on my last SUV as well. Great grip in the snow and rain, they handle well in the dry and are pretty quiet as well.

I had the Fortera's for 200 miles before I changed them out.

I went with 265/65/17's and they fit fine. Here's an old post of mine: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f180/goodyear-forteras-in-the-snow-31003.html

I had Michelin LTX M/S a few years ago on a Pathfinder I had and loved them. They handled NE snow quite well. I will be due for tires on my Overland sometime this winter and plan to get some LTX MS2's

Remember AT's are not winter tires. And all seasons are really no seasons. For the winter get a set of quality winter tires from Nokia, Vredstein, Bridgestone or Michelin. Another advantage winter tires have is when temps fall below 40 degrees the tread compounds provide better traction on snow, ice, in the wet and dry then AT, MTS and no seasons. Go with a 70 series or narrower for a winter tire.

My preference in winter tires is Michelin followed by Nokia and Vredstein. The distributor for Vredstein is/used to located in CT.

Consider upgrading to a 18" wheel and tire for the rest of the year.

a quality winter tire will offer superior performance in snow, ice and wet conditions when compared to a AT or MT tire.
