2014 Order/Arrival Dates (Milous?)

Hey guys - and maybe Milous you can answer this definitively.... I am curious what the latest dates are as far as order banks opening, and then delivery of 2014 models... specifically a CRD model.

I first heard mention of early-mid decemeber for order banks opening up, and then delivery in early-mid January....

But now I see rumors of order banks opening in January, with delivery in March or April.

Anyone have a firm timeline on this?

I want to order ASAP....

I'm interested also on the time-line. The Overland has made my top 3 list for a new SUV/crossover next spring. Number one on my list right now since I heard of the 8 speed!

My guess is the original rumors were rather... optimistic.

They haven't even started selling the 2013s yet, those should be on lots in September. They were originally planning to stop producing the 2013s in January, but honestly, if the strong demand for the GC keeps up, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to realize that stopping production early was going to cost them a LOT of money, and they'll end up making the 2013 a "not that much shorter" model year as opposed to a nearly non existant model year.

I'm sure they'll stick to whatever internal timeline they have. From what I have read that would be production start in January.

2013s are on dealer lots already.

Why would stopping production early cost them any money? They will roll from the 2013s right into the 2014s. They will have plenty of vehicles in the pipeline to cover the short transition.

The 2013 model year will still run 6-7 months, hardly "non-existent". The 2003 Grand Cherokee also was a short model year, with 2004 models starting in early January 2003.

The changeover is still scheduled for January. Don't know if the diesel will start then or if it will start production slightly later, as in February (but no later than March).

*shrug* Considering they just had their best month in nearly a decade, it seems like something you'd do if you didn't have a hit on your hands.

The early changeover was planned a long time ago. The mid-cycle refresh was planned many years ago, in the early development stages.

They want to get the 8-spd into the GC as soon as possible as it will help tremendously with the increasingly tougher EPA mileage requirements.

Sales for June were 12,506 which was the 5th best month for the WK2. The WK1 matched those numbers in 2006 and came very close in 2007.

Fair enough.

I remembered the figures from Autoblog differently. They said it was the best month since '05 and that in the first 6 months of '12 its sales were second only to the Ram.

Here are the sales for the WJ :

And for the Wk1 :

And for the WK2:

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_production.htm#10SALES

Sales are definitely way way up from the latter years of the WK1... kinda interesting to look at all the numbers over the years (like a whopping 31,698 for the WJ in August 1999).

Ya gotta remember in 2006 jeep was offering these things $10k off with 0% financing. I got my 2006 laredo for $23900 out the door with 0% financing. Employee plus plus was the special.
