White LED DRLs

Hi, has anyone here tried these?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Super-whi...item231fe84983

I've heard that some LEDs have been damaging the reflectors in the Grand Cherokee.

I also wonder if these LEDs would dim as the main headlights are turned on as they do now with the normal bulbs.

Re: White LED DRLs

I put them in mine and the DRL's stopped working after a few days. Even after I replaced them with the OEM globes. My dealer fixed it, do not know how, I think it was a software switch, as there were no blown fuses. I am not going to try again until there is a working solution.

Thanks mate, I thought there may be issues.

I'll wait as well then. They do look nice though!!

That is interesting. I put in Putco 3157 LED's in mine about two weeks ago. Look fantastic compared to original.
However, went and checked and found one out at low setting ie park or with headlights on although both working at high setting. Anyway, I have removed and replaced with originals for now. Fortunately, in my case all working on originals. Pity as appearance is awful compared to LED.
What is happening here? Is it an issue with the two light settings being used? Like to get back if anyone has knowledge or alternatives that work!

It just needs a rewire to work.

Re: White LED DRLs

When you say "rewire" what needs to be done? I don't see others talking rewiring in LED threads.
Is it a case of not using a high enough LED quality? I used the Putco premium not Nova which some others seem to have had success with.
Note also both LED globes were working on "full" setting when acting as DRL. One was out only on the lower setting when the headlights were on. Or when parkers are on only.

Ken at TailLightSolutions can tell you better than I can. He posted up months ago about this problem when he was swapping the bulbs. Maybe others have never seen the problem so they don't know?

I haven't played with a non-SRT8, the lights work differently. I had to rewire mine in my SRT because they won't even lite without the rewire.

Thanks. I have cross posted to Ken's forum.

I have now fitted Nova 3157 LEDS and so far these are working fine. I note on the web site it specifically says these are suitable for "dimming" . So, the lesson seems to be don't buy the base units.

Hi Ross51,

Can I ask where you got the globes and could you please post some pics?

Many thanks

My LED's also worked for a week or 2, then went. I hope you get better results than me.

In the JG vendor area find xenon depot. Get the latest discount code and visit their site. They sell the PUTCO NOVA bulbs and have great deals for Jeep Garage members. Also their customer service is beyond great. That's important when you read about all the failures. XD will stand behind everything they sell. I am not an emp or anything just a satisfied customer. Check their vendor area for feedback.
