What sub $150 or less?

Hey guys, Ive been out of the audio seen for quite a few years. Im in search for a good SQ sub around the $150 or less mark (Im not set on that price but would perfer it) Im going to try and build some type of fiberglass box to mount along the side of the jeep. If there is any room behind the plastic interior trim and the body panels, I have no problem cutting the interior plastic to get some depth for the sub box. I want something that wont take up much space and that I wont have to remove to use the cargo area.

Thanks in advance for any help

Joel

New

Diamond Audio D6
JBL GTO
SSA Dcon
Fi SSD
AA Arsenal

If you're willing to buy used, you MAY be able to find;

SSA Icon
JL W6.v2
IDQ

Honestly man, there are probably 100 drivers that will fit the bill for ya. Just a matter of picking one and rollin' with it.

Re: What sub $150 or less?

Ive been looking at the JL line of subs, since there the only sub that local shops carry. (Im not a big fan of Rockford, or the other main stream sub). I was looking on sonicelectronics and saw the dimond d6s for very cheap but RMS power is only 200 watts. First thought I wanted to put around 500 to one sub. Would the D6 live at 500 watts.

Im in the market for an amp too. So any suggestions there would be great

Thanks again guys,
Joel

As with sub woofers, there are millions and millions of amps that will fit your needs. You'll want to know what voice coil configuration your sub is and also how much you"re willing to spend.

Dual 4, dual 2, single 4, single 2, it's all going to depend on your amplifier selection. One voice coil configuration doesn't sound any better than the other. That said, dual 4 is a pretty common choice. Can be wired down to 2 ohms, and most amps are 2 ohm stable. Less are 1 ohm stable.

Better can be had for the money. That's pretty much the case with any JL product.
