Yet another exhaust thread! (calling all corsa owners)

Good evening everyone,

Been lurking about for a while and recently did some looking into exhausts and could use some feedback. I have a 2011 Overland Summit with the Hemi and, like many others it would appear, feel it's way too quiet for a V8. Even my 2004 WJ with the 4.7 I think had a better tone and volume at idle especially. My issue is my wife not wanting anything obnoxiously loud. I really don't want anything obnoxious either, this is a sub luxury SUV and not just a big motor with wheels attached after all. All that said, it seems like the corsa system is the right choice. Subdued, no drone, but wicked sounding at WOT and high RPM.

What I am really looking for is some good feedback on if this is what I should expect? I want it subdued when cruising, no drone, and a bit better tone and volume in general yet something that lets everyone around me know im there when I punch it. I really want/need quiet cruising once at speed (be that 35 or 75 MPH). I keep searching for sound clips of vehicles at speed inside with a Corsa installed, but of course all videos are of people firing up and revving the crap out of their cars from the outside. I know what it sounds like outside, I wanna hear the inside!

Unfortunately a friend of mine with a Tundra with a 5.7 bought Corsa and showed up one day and let us know he was there by flooring the peddle in neutral, which yielded the very loud raspy tone Corsa exhausts seem to have (which I love). She remains unconvinced an exhaust that sounds like that could ever be quiet enough for her...I have to point out her M45x sounds better than my whisper quiet Jeep in hopes she'll take pity on me.

Your requirements match the Corsa exhaust perfectly. Frankly, it's too quiet for my taste over most of the RPM range, but it does bark appropriately when you step on it.

Thanks for the feedback. I did look through the forums and have certainly seen a bit of back and forth on Corsa droning, not droning, being too loud, being not loud enough, etc. In seeing that I keep wondering if anyone has actually checked to see what the interior dB levels are with stock and checked again after installing a Corsa exhaust? I know different methods of checking (different device, for example) can certainly yield different results, but as long as the same testing method is used (same stretch of road, same measurement instrument, etc) for both stock and Corsa, the results should be quite telling?

Wife didn't like the Summit interior when I got it, but now she loves it. Maybe she'll feel the same way about the exhaust! :D

I doubt you'd pick up much of a difference under normal driving conditions. With the radio on, I don't hear the exhaust at all unless I go WOT.

Think I'm ordering one up right now...kinda wish I would have a few days ago so i could have put it on this weekend. I'm going to try and take some dB measurements and post here and on YouTube before and after so it can help others in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

no offense, but if you're really worried about how loud it is - probably should stick with the OEM exhaust ;) i would say corsa is not as loud as borla, jmho.

Here's my input. The stock system drones,so does the Corsa. It's not as loud as the Magnaflow(installed and removed) but it IS STILL THERE.Look at my posts,I tried some different systems.I can live with the Corsa even if it is not perfect.Wife does not notice the drone and I seldom hit the LOUD PEDAL when she is in with me.Auto anything gave best price ask for Lindsey Deavers mention my name for 15% discount.

The OP has only mentioned sound and nothing about how it looks cosmetically. Since no one has brought that up yet I will say that the Corsa tips are without a doubt the best looking on the Jeep. My only gripe about Corsa is the mufflers are pretty visible from behind and they angle in towards the center which looks kind of odd to me, but thats not really huge a deal. Sound and tips are biggest deal. There was a guy here who had the mufflers powder coated black so they wouldnt stand out so much.
I dont own the Hemi and have no reason to get an exhaust system on my Jeep, but if I did have the Hemi I would purchase Corsa 100%.

I AM concerned about how load it is, but I want some personality. Out of the factory the dang thing is whisper quiet. My wife's M45 sounds better and so did her Eos Lux 2.0 turbo before that! I do want some sound, but I want it to be only when I want it. I do agree with my wife that I don't want a $50K+ vehicle being obnoxiously loud. I want SOME personality though!

As far as looks go, I have a friend with a Tundra and I loved the look even though it won't be the same on the GC since his is side exit on pass side only...and I'm tall enough that I worry more about how the roof looks than the underside of the vehicle so I'm ok with how the exhaust looks down below! I do agree with how the visible parts look the best out of the aftermarket systems though.

I did buy yesterday from Amazon. $1380 shipped. I plan to do some before and after recordings. Maybe that will help others, maybe it won't. At the very least I'll have some good comparisons at least!

Had mine on for over a year still in love with it. I would call it composed most the time, just enough. I drove to florida 2300 miles round trip and say that drone is not that noticeable.

that was my dilemma also in choosing Corsa/Borla - I couldn't take how the mufflers hang so low at that angle too. i ended up getting the borla after speaking with chris higgins and david borla. but i was disappointed about the QC on the borla, the X-Pipe was misaligned and took me an extra hour to fix their bad welding mistake. But Borla took care of me by sending a new x-pipe (still waiting, been 7 days) and paying for the labor charges to get it installed.

eta: Borla tips stick out about an inch out more than the Corsa, I like it but you may not. plus on the pipes it's 3" vs. 2.5", but tips are both 4" dia.

Got the Corsa on my wk2 Hemi and I agree with only noticing sound when at WOT. I purchased mine from CarId and although it states it's a 3'' pipe, they are actually 2.5''. Sound is great, though. To improve idle sound I am installing hi-flo cats this weekend.
