Tint Question

If i put 20% tint on top of 30% tint what tint would it be equivalent to? 10%?

And if 5% tint over 18% to hard to see out of at night? If its just on the back windows for backing up? Would i not be able to see while backing up?

Re: Tint Question

Also what would 20% on top of 20% be?

Lower number = darker tint, so a tint rated at 20% VLT over a window which is at 30% already is going to be extremely dark.

I'd decide how dark you want your windows and have a tint shop match it to that rather than stick tint on tint. Also keep in mind the legal limits for tint in your area and how pedantic your local police are.

Re: Tint Question

30% light coming through already. Then you are applying 20% on top of that. That means you are letting in 20% of the 30% light that's left, not just 20% less of the 100% clear.

That's my assumption at least.

I wouldn't just apply tint over tint though. Rip it out and get what you want.

Re: Tint Question

i have 5% over the stock tint(15-18%?) and it WILL be dark. Even with my HIDs reverse backing up always a problem if you dont have a reverse cam.

Re: Tint Question

i only tinted the two fronts 15% to match everything else and i have a hard time at night backing up.

Yup, that pretty much says it all. Even worse if the windshield is tinted. I just got home from one of those middle of the swamp no streetlight area's and it really reminded me how dark my tint is! :D

I have decided Im going to do Tint over my back windows also in a few months. Does anyone have 20% on top of the stock 18% on the back? Can you still see through during the day, and does it equal out to about 5%? PLEASE REPLY. Any advice would be good!

at day IMO, it will be no problem. I have no trouble seeing out of it. It's when at night/cloudy/rainy/ days it might be a bit difficult. So with 20% over the stock, i dont think it'll be that big of a deal.

Solution? Rear Cam

20% of the 18% is 3.6% - that's dark!
