2007 WK 3.7L Battery questions?

I have been having issues lately with my battery and looking to replace. I have been told my current battery is only reading 650CCA. It is 6 years old so I assume it is getting to be about time to change the battery. When I checked around they only battery options I was offered was the very high end running about 160+. Is this about right for a new battery? It seems a little high to me. I figured there would be another choice other than the top end of each brand. Could someone offer me some insight before I go about dropping 160+ on a new battery? I do not run any audio equipment that is all factory. I do have a couple sets of off road lights but that is about it.

Mine died soon after I purchased my truck, and I believe I was told the truck required an 850cca battery. The way we play around with our Jeeps I would rather spend a little extra on my battery, and not have to worry when I turn the key.

I completely agree with spending more on a dependable battery but I was thinking I would have more choices to choose from. What battery did you get? This is the pricing on a Bosch that is 730cca/800c. I have not found an 850cca battery local. I was wondering if we have to get a special battery for our Jeeps to fit properly.

Sorry MT it's actually an 800 I remembered it being an 850 well you know we always add a little. I tried to find the receipt, but was unsucessful. I think it was around your 150 estimate, and to me was worth every extra penny. Batteries aren't what they used to be especially cheapos please don't buy that bosch. I replaced a lot of them when I was turning wrenches. I can even jump start someone without starting the truck, and the lights don't even dim-lol.

Thanks. I have been doing a little research and it seems like as per usual the batteries come from a number of major manufacturers. Exide, Johnson Controls, Delphi, and a couple others I cannot recall. A lot of people like Exide and Interstate. I think whoever does Bosch is now doing the lead acid batteries in the new chrysler vehicles? I may be wrong about that though. What brand did you get? I was looking at the NAPA Legend Industries battery but it seems Exide no longer manufacturers those.

It's a die hard I'm going to try to post pic's crossing fingers. Napa does have good stuff that they stand behind.

Yeah they just don't make that battery anymore. The Duralast is the highest CCA battery I can find locally.

I had the same issue 2 years ago when my battery decided it would no longer hold a charge. I was told the price was high because it requires a unique shape of battery (more rectangular than a regular battery). the place i went specializes in automotive electrical systems and they recommended an AC Delco. It has been great ever since!

I don't know about the Duralast, but I haven't heard bad things about them. Like 05 says the I have used the AC-Delco before with success. I have seen them seep a little around the post, and had to warranty one of mine. I've only seen it on a few, and my parts guy sent me a new one in 20 minutes with no questions asked. If you don't have a Sears around I would recommend it.

Re: 2007 WK 3.7L Battery questions?

The only downside to Sears around here is the terrible customer service in the shop. And Diehard batteries are made by Johnson Controls just like Duralast gold series. With the same 3 year free replacement and 5 year pro-rated warranty. Same specs other than more CCA. The diehard batteries made now are 765 CCA which is more than enough. The Duralast is 790 CCA. Unfortunately there is no AC Delco battery distributer (unless I am wholesale) that is close by. I gather most batteries in the 94R BCI Designation are going to be quite similar and the selling factor is which outlet you will be dealing with for the warranty.

Here are the specs for the one I put in it's a little bigger than the others. The wk doesn't like to be underpowered, and I know I will add some things to it.
