Dealer denies rebate?!

Okay, can someone, hopefully a dealer, check me on this?

I have a 2012 Overland scheduled "tentatively" here in NY for a Wednesday delivery, 4 days from now. The dealer is doing a swap to get the car I want. I'm getting 1K off in cash allowance plus another 1K off in Bonus cash. We put a deposit down a week ago and the dealer says the car's VIN was assigned to us on July 31.

NOW...I'm getting the V8 and that should get us the 750 dollar power bonus as well. But the dealer says since the vin # was assigned in the previous month we're not eligible. I called Chrysler/Jeep Incentives department and they said we're eligible so long as we have not yet paid for the car in full, which we have not. In fact we signed nothing yet beyond the 1K down and receipt for it. The Vin # of the car is on the receipt.

Dealer says we can call together on Monday from the dealership and see what's what but he insists the car has been reported "sold" to Jeep and therefor it's too late for the 750.00

Anyone know about this? Any dealers here who know for sure?

Thanks!

Robert

Re: Dealer denies rebate?!

It's not sold to "you" until you complete the transaction and pay in full...it is sold to the dealer, but AFAIK, that doesn't count since dealer inventory would get the rebate. Besides, the incentive comes from Jeep...sound like the dealer may be trying to keep it for themselves.

I'm in a different position. I closed my transaction out on Monday night (30 Juy) so I missed out on the extra $750. Life is that way sometimes...

Another unscrupulous dealer! :slapfight: What a surprise!! :slapfight:

You are definately entitled to the additional rebate as you haven't taken delievery of the Jeep yet. Don't back down... the dealer is trying to take the rebate for themselves or they may have tried to push your sale thru with "paperwork" that says you purchased the Jeep on the 31th entittling them to an additional monthy bonus from Jeep that you are unaware of.

Pat@FieldsJeep a forum vendor, may be able to state Chrysler policy on this issue. Contact him.

I would never put down any money on any vehicle that wasn't parked nearby. If you can get your 1K back then I would tell the dealer where to go and take your business elsewhere.

Pat@FieldsJeep dot com is his email?

Thanks for the responses. I can't imagine that the dealer is lying when he's willing to have me call Jeep from the dealership. He says if Jeep says "okay" then fine.

Of course it still makes me feel unsettled about buying now.

If you closed the deal before the end of the month the dealer probably used the sale towards the previous month quota, in which case it won't qualify and could screw up their quota to roll the sale a month forward. Just get the money back and buy it elsewhere if they don't play ball.

While you are at it, don't forget about the hand raiser discount. This is another $500 you can get by going to jeep.com and requesting a brochure and selecting "buying within 30 days"

Yep, I sent an e-mail to the dealer owner stating I'm not thrilled at this point. I'll be making a personal visit on Monday morning to get this worked out and/or get my deposit back.

Thanks again,

Robert

Dealer denies rebate?! - Customer denies dealer a sale and goes elsewhere...

Re: Dealer denies rebate?!

BTW, the dealer, while explaining why he could not give the rebate said:

"Jeep already thinks you're driving this car."

Outside of the deposit we've signed nothing nor even seen this car. Nothing has been registered, paid for or anything else.

Dealer is in risk of deep doo-doo if they claimed you are already driving the car...and you can certainly suggest calling them on it if they persist. You did not purchased that car yet...

If they don't want to change the purchase date then they can just reduce the total by $750 at their own cost, or you walk. Good luck.
