Donating used rims

I have a set of four 17" stock rims off my 2011 WK2 that I've been trying to sell for a couple of months now (here, craigslist, ebay) that hasn't been getting any interest (as expected). Does anyone know how or where I can donate them? I think i'd be better off getting a tax deduction by donating them than by trying to sell them. I don't know if I'd get any money by taking them to a scrapyard. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:(

I had a used tire place offer me $100 for a set of 17" wheels with tires (50% tread). Might be worth a shot.

Some scrap yards may take them as aluminum alloy scrap. I know Salvation army, perhaps goodwill, has a scrap car/material donation system.

Don't expect a large tax deduction as you can only claim the actual value of the wheels, not some made up assessment. As you have seen the value may not be much. Not saying that some stretch the truth a bit on their returns.

You could be the man here on the forum when the wives of four forum members trash a wheel.

I will soon be in a similar predicament with my 17" wheels. There just seems to be too much supply and no demand. One idea I had was to get them powder coated black, or some other customization, that may make them more desirable. Or put some cheap tires back on them and sell them individually as spares.

I dunno if these 17 inch wheels fit other model jeeps or vehicles. If so you could advertise to a broader audience.
