Weekend work on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ Special edition

Did some work to a friends 2004 Silver Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition WJ w/ 4.7L V8 over the weekend.

1. New battery(old interstate battery with 84month warranty died right before the weekend started). Replaced old battery with a 100 dollar special from Advance

2. 8 new Champion copper spark plugs

3. New front and rear EBC Ultimax slotted rotors and new EBC greenstuff pads. Also flushed/bleed the brake fluid with some new Valvoline synthetic(brakes didnt really need work, but I wanted some low dust pads for the new chrome wheels)

4. New 20x9 chrome SRT8 repo wheels from factoryreproductions

5. 20 new chrome lugs

6. 4x new Nitto 420S tires from discount tire direct

7. Wash and quick detailing(polished the new wheels with Mother's powerball mini and Meguairs Ultimate polish--I assumed this was ok to use on the new wheels, didnt know if the wheels had "clear" on them)

Handles much better. There's less of that floating feeling on the interstate. Doesn't feel harsh at all. Haven't got to test it in the rain yet, but hopefully it's better than before(the stock Goodyears were bald in the back). I wish the Nitto's provided some wheel protection, with the size we used, there's zero. No road noise to speak of. The rear sway bar seems to be the limiting factor in corners, and the shorter sidewall seems to have made that more noticeable.

That is one nice Jeep! Why Green stuff pads and not yellow stuff?

My main concern with the pads was dust on the new wheels. Honestly, I don't know a lot about the EBC pads, but the green stuff pads claimed low dusting. The new EBC rotors and pads feel great though, and they aren't even close to being broken in. Huge difference compared to what was on the Jeep. Makes me want to replace the brakes on my 99 XJ with EBC.

Nice work, looks so much better with the new rims! Such a simple transformation too.

I say paint the calipers green, that would look pretty darn sweet.

Great work! Jeep looks great, real clean. I'd get the SRT reps too if I could afford them. Your inspiration pic looks like TJXJWJ's (Tony) he is a member here. There has been some debate on here about in-channel vs stick on vent visors, I think seeing your jeep I agree the full length stick on ones for the rear definitely look best.

Re: Weekend work on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ Special edition

You will love those shocks and sway bars! Best thing I ever did to my WJ anyway. Those bridgestones will make decent winter tires too, I ran those before I got my current tires. They seemed to wear pretty fast but shouldn't be bad if you just use them for the winter. I also went with moog tie rod ends and steering stabilizer, they firmed up the steering quite a bit. The jeep is looking great! Are those JK wheels?
