"Clunking/knocking" Rear Diff.?
I've got a slight "clunk clunk clunk"/knocking that's becoming prominent around 25 mph. Seems to speed up with mph. Maybe I hear it less at higher speeds because it's going to fast, but I can definitely hear it at 25ish. It's definitely coming from the rear. Almost sounds like drivers side rear, but I assume it's the rear diff. It is happening with throttle since it seems to go away when I am off the throttle. This makes me think it's not a wheel or something. Could it be as simple as needing new fluid in the diff or something worse?

I know I just need to go to a shop eventually, but I'd like to go in knowing as much as I can.

Currently at 53k miles. Last large service was at 30k-ish. Had a diff. repair around that time as well.

Changing the fluid will unfortunately do nothing at this point if it is makng that much noise. Mine did that too, which was a bad carrier bearing, which made noise only when on the throttle or going uphill. I would not wait any longer to get it repaired; when a bearing freezes up it will ruin a lot more things inside there and could be several thousand for a rebuild at that point.

What did it end up costing for your repair?
