WK2 at the Track

I was with some of the SRT8s from the red site at the drag strip last night and decided Id try running my Jeep as well. Its completely stock and I was using the 89 octane gas; I was just curious about how itd do. I think the altitude here is around 2200 feet.

In the pic, I was in the left lane and I got paired with a 5.0 mustang, which was in the right. Wish the Jeep did better, lol.

If you can drop hat 60' to 2.0 or close to it you will get some better times. the 60' is the best read for how you will end up. If you can get off the line, and clear that you will be fine. Its all about figuring out a launch rpm and getting the vehicle moving.

That makes sense. It was my first time at the drag strip and I really only went to watch the SRT8s. After seeing them do their runs though, I had the itch to try it out, haha. One of them were telling me about launch rpm (they said try to brake and gas to maybe about 1200 rpm) but I was more nervous about jumping the line, lol.

I would have liked to give it a few more runs but someone leaked oil the whole way down the track and it took them forever to clean it up. Then once they did, the 9 sec dragsters were complaining the track was cold, so they had to drag a heater down it. It just got so late.

I might try to get there early next week and give it a few more passes.

I did have it in sport mode. I wanted to give it a go in normal as well to see any change but just didn't have enough time. Maybe next week, haha.

I know if I go again, I'm gonna be wanting to buy an SRT8...

Yea you can 2 foot it left on brake right on fuel and just bring it up until you can feel it start to load the suspension. One thing your fighting is the weight and really lack of suspension. It doesn't take power to get down the track if it doesn't weigh anything. Unfortunately your jeep being 10 tons its a touch of a struggle.

This is full suspension travel with less hen 300 hp...

Laugh all you want, there are guys who run at North Star Raceway (out mid west) and they do a race call "no prep" basically, bare asphalt nothing else...and yea, its about as slick as ice .... pretty cool look it up on youtube.

That's slower than all V6 times I've seen. Granted -- those times are by drivers who have been down the track many times, and probably "corrected".
