Corsa review/instructions/video

Thanks to everyone that was kind enough to reply to my intial questions about the Corsa cat back exhaust for the WK2. I wanted to share my experiences with everyone as far has the install as well as what it sounds like after the install.

First some install notes:

-Do not install the drivers side tunnel muffler and THEN the passenger side if you are by yourself. I did just that the first time around and it threw the alignment of the rest of the system off. DO as the instruction say (clamp together lightly) and install together. Since I had to reinstall the entire system due to a welding issue on the driver side tunnel muffler, it wasn't such a big deal for me. Second time I installed I assembled the driver and passenger mufflers together as the instructions tell you to do and clearances were better and the install was better over all.

-Do install the system where solicitors cannot bother you. I got distracted by one and when removing the system today to replace the faulty part I dropped it on my face and probably could use stitches, but I just held my lip together with my fingers until it stopped bleeding. ;)

-Watch out for the drivers side rear most muffler hanger. It tends to be close to the body of the car and could probably cause rattling/vibration issues.

Otherwise this was a pretty easy install. Youtube video below of me driving around to give others an idea of what it sounds like in the vehicle. Please forgive me for the cicadas, pretty vocal right now here in northern IL.

To continue, my review of the system:

It's custom made so the fit isn't perfect. You either need a modicum of mechanical ability to install or set some $ aside to have it installed.

Build quality I'm not sure of quite yet, my initial purchase had 3/8" of a critical area not welded properly. I'm not upset, I pressed Corsa a bit (I'm a project manager so I want to know what is going on, it's my nature) to move things along quickly and they did. I received the new part I requested quickly, even though I was not provided any concrete details (part numbers, order numbers, shipping dates, etc) by Corsa other than , "it should ship within a week even if we have to build it".

I got the new tunnel muffler by Wed of the next week, they had built it 1 week before so I was lucky. I did have some trouble with Corsa tech support, I must say. I e-mailed them as soon as I thought I had a leak (same day I got the system on Aug 1 or 2) and have never received a response to this day.

Anyway, I received my new part and it is welded correctly, and Corsa stood behind their product. I have no problem recommending them in the future based on their performance in this situation.

On to what I think of the system...

I think it is what Chrysler should have put on the vehicle from day 1. Stock there is no personality to the V8 powered Grand Cherokees. My wifes 4 cylinder VW Eos Lux sounded better (because of the blow off valve) and her current M45x sounds better.

I finally leveled the playing field. Jeep has an identity crisis unfortunately. I say let the V6's be the subdued quiet engines and if someone wants POWER flaunt it with the HEMI!!! :D

Love the over all sound of the system. Better tone at idle, quiet when cruising, zero drone, and CAN be loud if you are WOT. Perfect system for anyone that wants more "personality" out of the Hemi, but doesn't want anything obnoxiously loud. If you want loud all the time, this isn't a system for you IMO.

Please let me know what you want to hear from the corsa exhuast (within reason) and I'll see what I can do! Happy to help others when I can.

I am curious about the following........I also have the Corsa exhaust on my 2012 Overland. It states that it is a 3'' catback ending in 4'' tips, but upon installation I was told by my mechanic that it's only 2.5''. I love the sound and don't really mind but I wonder if yours is the same as well.

Nice video and writeup. Ugh damnit, now I want the V8 just so I can get the Corsa exhaust :-(((((((

I wonder if my wife would let me trade in my 12 Overland V6 for a 2014 V8 Overland when they become available.. hummmmm

Great write up and video review. I know exactly what you mean about wanting some exhaust "personality" but not too loud. I also want to feel more rumble on acceleration but don't want to hear it when I'm cruising. I had a Magnaflow on my previous WK2 and had drone at 65-70MPH that drove me crazy. Please update when you get out at highway speeds and let us know if there is any. After my Magnaflow adventure I had sworn off aftermarket exhausts, but now you've got me interested in Corsa. Thanks.

Re: Corsa review/instructions/video

Coincidentally, I actually got a good 120 miles of highway cruising today around the Chicago area! 65-75 the entire time. ZERO drone. Road noise was more prevelant than anything. Between that and the radio at volume 10-12 (730N Nav) you couldn't hear the exhaust at all unless I had to step on the gas. I don't travel the highway much but I can try to get another video if needed. I have to travel to MI next weekend so I'll have plenty of opportunity to record if everyone can be patient. Let me know!

BTW I did visit a couple friends in Naperville today that are into cars and had a 5.7 WK2 for a bit. I revved it up when I pulled in their driveway and they wondered what the heck the loud exhaust was before they came out and found it was us. Mission accomplished!

Quiet, yet loud... Yin, yang...
