EVIC Temperature Display
My temperature display is running about 7 to 10 degrees above the actual ambient temperature. I was up in the valley (Woodland Hills) the other day and the EVIC said the outside temperature was 118 degrees . It clearly wasn't that hot and local reports were saying the temperatures were actually 108. I was parked in a shaded multilevel parking structure when I first noticed this.

I live on the coast within a mile of the ocean and the temperature this afternoon was about 78 degrees but my EVIC said it was 85. It definitely was not 85.

Has anyone had this problen or seen it before? I'm thinking I might need to have the the temperature sensor replaced. Or maybe a software setting adjustment?

Re: EVIC Temperature Display
I believe there is a software update for slow to respond evic temperatures. Check out and look at the TSB section for 2011+

Re: EVIC Temperature Display
Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the TSB and it applies to vehicles built before 1/28/11. My door sticker says it was built in APR 12. I assume that is 2012 and if so it would not apply?

Thought I'd have some fun with the EVIC on a really hot day recently...

And snapped this questionable Kodak moment!

Maybe this could happen somewhere?

Re: EVIC Temperature Display

If you can get fried ice cream at a chinese restaurant, then why not snow at 100deg F?

Re: EVIC Temperature Display
I had a similar experience on a cold day as it's winter here in Australia. The EVIC appeared to be locked on about 7 deg C for 10 or 15 mins, but then corrected itself and went to 15 deg C.

I had posted this in another thread before also, my temperature readout is also on the high side. I have not tried checking the difference, it's just too darn hot here.

Re: EVIC Temperature Display
Just sitting in the garage on a warm day the air and IAT temps are both reading 89.6 and both coolant and trans temp are 86F. Can't read oil temp under 100F.

This is a pretty good correlation of the differences I see when driving. Temps I read when driving (oil 20F under coolant temp) sound like the oil cooler has the oil cooling the coolant rather than the other way round.
